I am using windows vista and i wanted to watch HD movies on my computer. But video playback was choppy. So I installed cyberlink powerdvd(to make use of my 8600gt and hardware acc.) But the trouble is powerdvd only acc. .mov and .mp4 files. it refuses to play any H264 .mkv files.

So i installed CCCP but playback is still choppy in certain videos(part. movie trailers....though playback isn't choppy when it comes to complete movies and tv series). I have both coreavc 1.3 version and coreavc 1.5 version pro. Which one should i install?

one more thing --i visited the CCCP forums and i was advised to diable the H.264 decoding codec of powerdvd. But when i did that, powerdvd stopped providing hardware acc. to my video files?? So what to do here??

Also one final problem i noticed is that all video appear to be in slow-mo in areas. It's not that video and audio are outta sync but when there in certain areas, it appears like video is being played in slow mo. This happens even in standard def. movies!! Any idea why ??

Anyway.....,

So could someone pls. tell me which coreavc version(1.3 or 1.5 pro) to install on my vista system??

coreavc from torrent sites

I will BAN you if I can. If you bought the original version 1.5.0.1, you will get an installer with options to specify directshow inputs like:

CoreAVC.com: World's Fastest High Definition H.264 Video Software Decoder

So you have scroll wheel mouse?

You need to calm down. You can't really BAN him, only Super Moderators and Admin can do that ;)

anywho, personally, I use ffdshow. It's free and decodes all formats possible :) Ditch PowerDVD and use Media Player Classic. the combo works extremely well.

Man, I was just joking.

If TE's Super Moderators and Admin allows me to explain the installation procedure of 'COREAVC v1.3' cracked by EDGE, I am happy to explain it to everybody...

^^ i tried MPC and fddshow combo........Doesn't work well for me.video playback is choppy

Man, evox is joking. I don't recommend you to install FFDShow H.264 decoder, if you want CoreAVC.

PowerDVD H.264 and Nero H.264 are bad at all. But CoreAVC is the best software decoder till date. It even beat the Nvidia H/W Decoder sometime.

if you are using the original CoreAVC, I will explain the procedure here. If not

1. You need to get special permission from TE or evox to explain about a cracked codec
2. Or better send me a PM, I will help you..

^^i know the procedure. I have installed version 1.4 on XP machine....All you got to do is place the coreavcdecoder.ax in windows/system32 and register it using regsvr32 .But the problem is i can't get it to work on vista. Also i don't wanna spend 20 $$ on a piece of software which i am not sure will work on vista. That's why i didn't buy it.i did use their paid version 1.3 on XP but acc. to their policy , you can't use that same software when you upgrade your OS.

So i don't want the installation procedure , just tell me how it works in vista.

coreavcdecoder.ax in windows/system32 and register it using regsvr32

It doesn't mean your system is using CoreAVC. If you have installed FFDShow it won't allow you to use CoreAVC by default. And if you have PowerDVD H.264 it will also take control over decoding of MP4. And then Quicktime. Quiting all this Decoders its not easy as reading the .NFO file from Edge.

That's why we are paying for softwares.. Support, yes for only one word!!!

i know that. I have diasbled fdd show's and cyberlink's h.264 video codec and enabled this one.Like i said i have done this before and got it to work. But that was under Xp not vista. troubel is i can't get it to work under vista.

Disabling other H.264 may not enable CoreAVC. You need to enable CA as the default directshow handler for H.264 for each player. Which player you are using?

wow man, you have so many decoders installed. no wonder you're having problems. Uninstall ffdshow and PowerDVD and just use CoreAVC. make sure you CHECK decoding of X264/H.264 video in CoreAVC.

By default all supported formats by coreavc are ticked . So all you need to do is find out which other codec is interfering and remove those...

specs:- dell 30 inch , e4300, 8600gt, 750gb HDD, 2 GB ram.

Well i ran CCCP insurgent---no other codec is interfering. H264 playback is currently handled by fddshow.

I know you have to enable coreavc as the default codec to handle H264 but i am uunable to install coreavc in vista in the first place. So the question of setting it as the default codec doesn't even arise.

BTW, sorrry for the confusion:----- So far i have installed CCCP(not fddshows- that was a typo) plus powerdvd and disabled powerdvd's H.264 codec.

And i am unable to install coreavc.Which is the correct version and procedure for installing coreavc in vista ?? Any guide or internet links would be helpful

actually, there's a simple solution to your problems.

you shouldn't waste the decoding prowess of the 8600GT.

PowerDVD actually does play x264 .mkv files, you just need to rename the file extension from .mkv to .avi to "trick" PowerDVD to play it. and wala! you now have hardware accelerated h264 playback using PowerDVD and your 8600GT :)

btw, i used PowerDVD 7.3 to play the .mkv files under both vista x64 and x86, so make sure you have the latest version installed, to be on the safe side.

btw i think regarding the codec issue, theres some vista codecs pack available which allows u to playback any type of file on vista.

did you register the codec or not, hitch?? using regsvr32????

Yes i did register it. but it still not showing up during video playback.fddshow is still being used.
