CPU/Mobo How to? Jump Start a Motherboard

Hi,
I have a problem with my friends PC and I checked everything else(Only RAM fitted) the mobo lights come on but when I push the POWER button nothing happens. So I thought I'd try jump start mobo just like jump start PSU.

Can anyone explain how it can be done ? Please.

You can jump start a PSU/ SMPS, not the mobo the way u think. Reset the BIOS and try.

Connect the two power pins with a screwdriver.

Thanks that's what I was looking for. But I've got a doubt as to which 2 Pins refer to the Power(Lost manual and no info on mobo) , Will I screw up anything if I touch any other pins with the screwdriver ?
 
You will see you headers with same colour connector with the initial "PWR" OR "PW". If they arent any, go to the motherboard manufacturer's site you will get a pdf manual. Download and check it out.

There should be the diagram printed on motherboard itself. Try to find that. Else another trick is remove the PWR connector of cabinet, which is currently connected, and then short it through a screw driver. You can do this if you have not removed any cables from motherboard.
 
What happens when a motherboard is 'jump started'. And what all is connected to it. This thread is not making sense to me...at all.
 
^^Thats because the OP thinks his power switch is not working properly. So he is thinking to short the power jumpers on the motherboard, I hope now you understood :)

on the other hand....the OP can stick a metal screwdriver between the mother board header, where the cable from the on/off switch is mounted. And fire the PSU.
