There is no continuous charge with a Li-on battery. As the charging stops the moment theprotection circuit detects the battery is full. It will trickle charge if over time the battery loses its charge even if its not used.
The use of the battery is like a UPS in case the power goes out, if you do not need this you could remove the battery and store it at 40% charge in a cool place. It would lose about 5% approx every month, so don't forget about it after a few months as it will be flat and that is also bad for the battery.
But the hassle of doing this might not be worth it.
