Hi Guys ,

I have a PS2 slim model no. SCPH 70002 , now most of my games are dying on me because of scratches on the DVDs or maybe the lens of my PS2 has become really weak. Anyways I heard somewhere that we can connect an external USB HDD to the PS2 slim and run games from it. So my question is , just exactly how do we do that ? Is it as simple as plugging in the USB HDD with the game on it and playing it ?

I am sure there is more to it. I mean do we need a software or something to read games from the HDD ? Will the WD My book hdd work with the PS2 ?
Any help would be really appreciated. My PS2 just cannot die on me like this.

Thanks.

Welcome to the hard world of PS2 exploits.I have asked this question before only to learn that it's not easy as plug-load-play.:(

From what I have learned you need to have USB Advance loaded onto a CD to be able to boot the PS2 with it's software first. Not all games are compatible to be played via HDD.After which you need to need to copy the games onto the HDD in ISO format & then load the games via USB Advance. This is just a small gist of what I can give right now.The last time I tried, didn't have much luck.So left the idea of HDD alone.:(

Arre just get the lens changed. That's what I did when my Ps2 started skipping cutscenes and long loading times, then it fixed it.

^^ How much it costs???

And where can I get these lenses?? I don't think PS2 available here in my city..

I also tried loading games from HDD but the hiccups are

-> You need to first format the USB hdd / pendrive with the USB Advance pc software.

-> Rip the game using usb advance PC software

-> copy the ripped game on HDD

-> Plug in the HDD and it shud show the game

-> In my case it did not show :(

Infact USB advance did not even show my 4GB Kingston USB pen drive but it shows the contents of my 2GB Transcend one.

But since most games are more than 2GB i cannot rip them and keep in my 2GB wala drive. Moreover the 4GB USB is not even detected by SMS player. I dont know where the problem lies :(
