Well i have got 1 dvd trying to extract some files giving crc error.......

got a software named cd/dvd recovery..for a 20mb file it takes 3 hours jus for completing 30% stuff(also hangs the system...though cpu and ram usage is within limit) are there any other option???

Though it might sound wierd, but sometimes it might work :)

Put the dvd under a water tap with running water, clean it carefully with a lint free cloth or a vest :ohyeah:

And it might work :bleh:

Bad copy is a good one. But every software of this type requires a good amount of time to recover the files.
So you have to be patient. :P

You can also look at Power CD DVD Recovery or Flobo CD DVD Recovery.
Try polishing shallow scratches away with mild abrasives (i.e., toothpaste). Clean away the residue. Use radial strokes only!
Best of luck.....

try out isobuster .... a good software.. bt it substitutes dummy data where it encounters trouble .. dunno wot kinda data u trying to extract and hence wot effect it ll have on the recovered data.

It isn't mentioned *which* side of the disc the scratches are on ?

if its on the label side, you might be out of luck, if its the other than maybe.

another way i read about here is rub brasso or any polisher to the surface...that will smooth out the surface enuf y\fir you to recover the data

aah so many replies i cant check physical substance stuff as the dvd is not mine frnds...and it wont look nice if i make other files also not readable.. thats why will only try software stuff..but will surely try on my old discs....

Isobuster works, ive used it for a few cd's. Tried brasso but didnt seem to make much of a difference for most cd's tho it made one cd which was unreadable work
