Hi,
1. I have started a few downloads on my computer using utorrent. If I copy the partly downloaded files can I resume those torrents in another computer?

2. Also, I had started downloads on utorrent installed in Win Vista in one of the partitions of my computer. I have Win XP installed in another partition. If I uninstall Vista, can I resume the downloads using the utorrent installed in the XP partition?

How? Please help?

Yes, you should be able to resume the partially downloaded torrents, provided you use the same torrent client. And i *think* you may have to copy the resume.dat file from %appdata%\utorrent to the new computer.

All u need is the original .torrent file and the partially completed downloads.

Copy all the partially downloaded files to someplace on computer Y (say D:\)

Open the .torrent file (which was originally on computer X) on computer Y and point the download location to where the files are (D:\ in this case).

Same can be done for your second query too.

YES....it will work 100%...all u need is the original .torrent file and the partially complelted download....first copy the file into the drive where all downloads are located and open the torrent file and it will automatically resume the download from where it had previously started...

If you can get the same .torrent file again, then no problem. Just add it to your torrent client and point the location to the partially downloaded files.

Note that if the .torrent file is not the exact same one then you might lose the partially downloaded files.

ok! got it. all the torrents are saved in vista in \user\appdata\roaming\utorrent folder. so i logged into XP browsed to the location, clicked the torrents and selected the same earlier used location and .......... voila.

Thank you guys for helping out.
