Wont the 2.5" drive sit in the 2.5" floppy drive bay ?. Just a suggestion, though i dont have personal experience doing so....

But who uses FDD now a days
<
, though i have a spare usb FDD.

i meant the floppy drive compartment which comes with the cabby. I think the one which is discussed here lacks that bay...

Recently I am facing a problem. The 2.5" HDD is not detected by OS and it happens when the HP invent screen which comes after starting the PC freezes for around 30 seconds and then the normal booting process starts. When the PC starts normally there is no problem. The HDD is not detected only when the HP invent screen on start up freezes for around 30 seconds and then OS boots up. Any help/suggestions? I am using windows 7 and I have tried re-installing the OS couple of times.

Try to check in the bios that the laptops internal HDD is the first boot option and you don't have any cd/dvd in the drive..
Also check "control panel/system/advanced system settings" Click on 'start-up and recovery button', then check you don't have a long time set in the 'time to display list' and 'time to display recovery' boxes. normally default time set is 30 sec, reduce it and check.
