how to use cat5e cable as telephone wire?

hi,

I have read that Cat5e cables are recommended for telephone cabling purposes.
Doing your own telephone wiring

I would like to use cat5E cable for wiring from my Junction Box to the ADSL splitter at my home ( am on MTNL delhi ADSL & one fine day i find that the telephone wire coming to my home was cut in the middle somehow..!)

I would like to connect 1 strand of the 4 pairs of the cat5e cable to the positive & negative terminal of my telephone line at the Junction box.

Is this possible & has someone done it? also, how much does cat3e cost/feet?
 
cat cabling can be used in place of telephone lines

i am using it

on all 4 pairs i have got 4 telephone lines patched and

they all are working fine

with no noise or cross talk in any one of them

if you have only one pair/telephone to run

use 2 pairs instead of one

will improve performance

i dont know about the cost

Get 2 pair or 4 pair polycab-tel wire. it will be cheaper than getting a CAT 5 cable.
2pair - 8rs per meter.
4pair - 10-12 rs per meter.

CAT 5 is basically used for relablity as in if the two pair goes bad u still got another two pair you can use. but i really dnt see who good it is when some external damage happens to the wire... I just used polycab wire. got 40 meters of it..
 
I dunno if it really helps to have high quality CAT5 cables in your house - from your telephone to the junction box, when the connection from the junction box to the telephone exchange is in all probability some old twisted cable pair :)
