Hi Guys,

I guess there must be many star wars fans out here. The thing is I have never ever watched a Star war film before, finally I got some time and managed to get my hands on all the 6 installments. Wanna check out what all the hype is about.

Now I am confused. How should I watch it? In a chronological order which is :

1. Phantom menace (1999)
2. Attack of the clones (2002)
3. Revenge of the sith (2005)
4. A new hope (1977)
5. Empire strikes back (1980)
6. Return of the jedi (1983)

or should I watch it in the order of their release dates? Watching them chronologically would be very weird since I would actually be going back in terms of technology used but then again watching them year wise would leave me confused with the storyline.

So all you young padawans please suggest.:hap2: ( WTF is a padawan anyway? :S )

Thanks
Bluff~

George Lucas made the movies in such an order for a good reason, I'm not gonna elaborate that but its best to start watching - "A New Hope" first and continue to finish the trilogy and then watch the New trilogy starting from "Phantom Of Menace"

A padawan is a young jedi or warrior wh has to undergo extensive training under his masters and move on to build his own lightsaber or something.

The original trilogy is the best IMO better than those ridiculously long Lord of the rings series, Have Fun!

^But then wouldn't that spoil the storyline? I am sure when Lucas made star wars, he must not have an idea of the level of success his franchise would achieve. If he were to make the franchise again wouldn't he have chosen the chronological order to narrate the story?

The Star Wars story begins abruptly in the first movie - A New Hope and then continues until the original trilogy is over. The events that take place in the new trilogy have already taken place before New Hope but that's the point, the Star Wars storyline progresses this way and its best to watch in this order..so don't worry about the spoilers.

New hope
empire strikes back
return of the jedi
phantom menace
attack of the clones
revenge of the sith

the real order of making was

A new hope (1977)

Empire strikes back (1980)

Return of the jedi (1983)

Phantom menace (1999)

Attack of the clones (2002)

Revenge of the sith (2005)

but if you go from phantom...you will not like the movies from a new hope..coz shitty FX

He made it like that coz to make 1,2 and 3 he didn't had the technology for the FX at that time..

You are a padawan now....by the time you watch all...force will be IN you and you will kill yourself by lightsaber... :-)

Yeah forgot about the Special effects and all that, make sure You watch the remastered version of the original/old trilogy

:D

Dont even think about the chronological order. You will spoil the whole Star Wars saga for yourself. I did not, but ask my brother, he did not know the order to watch it in. Watched it chronologically, rues the decision till date! Will do so forever.

For some freaking reason, lucas say watch it chronologically, coz it is a story and a saga. Complete crap!

This ones not for you Bluffmaster, dont even read it.
Its only for those who have seen the original triology.
The revealation in the Empire Strikes Back is considered to be one of the greatest and best of all times ;)
Also, i feel that Yoda's revealation about luke not being the only one was simply not given enough importance or capitalised on! It could have been even better than the one i spoke of previously.

Its does not matter which order you choose. Episode 4 was made in such a way that people can grasp the story even if they did not read the book or know the story beforehand.

^What big spoiler? That vader is Luke's father? Every internet savvy person knows that already

I still try and keep myself away from the spoilers if i have not yet watched the movie. Otherwise, it really spoils the movie experience for you.

You now know nearly everything you are about to see.

2 years ago when i first saw star wars, i had not even read a single article on it. Skipped it all till then.
I don't read or involve myself in Star Trek talks or discus.. will watch it one day. Would like things to be a secret if its meant to be one.

^I did not ask for it. But then you cannot ignore everything, can you? I have already seen so many spoofs of the whole Vader is luke's father thingy on TV. I don't even have a clue of who the hell this vader guy is :P

The same thing happened to me some years ago when I was about to watch "The sixth sense". People used to say all the time that Bruce willis is a ghost, I only realized what they actually meant when I was in the middle of watching "The sixth sense" :P

For movies, the order matters.
Watching it chronologically would take the suspense out of it. It would just be another good boy gone bad story then.

Lol, sorry bro :ashamed: Hate spoiling stuff for people.

But dude, run off from here :bleh: Your purpose for the post has been solved. You have no work here now. Go watch the movie :hap2: Dont keep peeking in and spoil it further.

I'd say watch new hope, ESB and ROTJ. Even if you don't watch the new ones its okay. The new ones are crap. Watch the new three if you really have nothing else to do :P.
