My HP laptop 14s (Ryzen) is having some issues with power button. It requires hard press. Maybe some cleaning and WD40 would repair it but I have to open the laptop which I want to avoid.
I am searching BIOS for some option like power on by keyboard press or mouse click, but cant find the option.
If device put in sleep mode then I can wake up by keyboard, mouse but cannot turn it on after shutdown.

Is there any bios configurator or something that can enable the power on by keyboard/mouse.

Most HP laptops, especially the 14s series, don’t support powering on from a full shutdown using the keyboard or mouse—only from sleep or hibernate. If the BIOS doesn’t have options like ‘Power on by keyboard’ or ‘Lid open resume,’ it’s likely not available. By the way, is WD-40 actually safe to use on a laptop power button? I’ve heard it’s not recommended for electronics and can potentially cause issues over time

Give to repair person, he will fix new button.
That's not always possible in a laptop. A cousin of mine faced similar issue with his very old laptop & when he went to Nehru Place even the shops there couldn't help him. This is why I prefer the newer design of power button being on the laptop keyboard.

Eh? This is new to me. The HP laptop above has its on the main PCB

Based on the location of my button and some YouTube research , I'm pretty confident it's on a small sub board connected by flex cable. But the power switch is very short height surface mount type one which I think is not easily available in local electronics spares shop, also I am not getting anything online.
It maybe some ₹10/₹20 switch but purchase options I get online are a whole sub board costing well above ₹500.
Right now it works just need hard press.

Thanks for the advice.
Most probably dust stuck inside switching mechanism, so IPA will dissolve and carry away dust particles.
I thought first WD40, as I thought dust or other thing is reducing the free play of the switch.
