the desire HD does indeed have a Super LCD screen just like the desire Z & Incredible S but unlike the incredible S its not mentioned in the press materials coz they cant officially call the DHD LCD S-LCD due to legal issues...u see just as S-AMOLED is a samsung trademark, S-LCD is a sony trademark. Now the LCD's being used in both the desire Z & incredible S come from sony so they are mentioned as S-LCD in the press releases. The DHD LCD on the other hand is manufactured by sharp and hence they cant mention it as SLCD in PR materials. although both support 16M colours. LCD quality wise the ranking is 1. Samsung, 2. Sharp & 3. Sony. if u look at the technical specs of the desire -z and incredible s SLCDs, they are both 16 bit panels that support 24bit color depth with dithering whereas the DHD is a native 24bit panel just like Samsung Galaxy S, Iphone 4 & Moto droid-x.
But yes its true that initial firmware on the DHD had made the LCD look dull & the colors washed out but with the recent 2.2.1 update HTC made the screen brighter, more contrasty, sharper & more saturated.. Infact now the DHD screen is just like the HTC inspire 4G's & HTC thunderbolt's and a bit better than the original AMOLED screen of the original desire but it still falls short of the brilliant S-AMOLED on the Galaxy S.
The battery life on the incredible is indeed better than the DHD and on par with that of the original desire's but in either case dont expect these super phones to last more than a day on a single charge. The incredible S has slightly less ROM than DHDs.
Currently only Nexus S comes with 2.3 and 2.3 update for DHD, desire z, Desire & incredible S will come in 3rd week of april.
Hope this helps u in clearing ur doubts
