Price and Warranty

Approximate price : Rs 3500 - Rs 3750 shipped

Warranty : 1 month personal warranty

if price can come around 2.7k i'm interested. sellers have artificially increased the prices from 2.4k to 3.5k in a month due to demand.

I am interested, very. but the reviews are not comparing to other HSPA+ modems.

how does it stack up against the other modems like say the k4505

Where did u see it for 2.4k :O

@ varkey

Are you getting it from the 3G Modem store India ? Also Tata Docomo 21.6M modem is 3.5k all inclusive. Its a Huawei modem only (not still sure abt the model no)...plus it will come with 1 year warranty.

So I guess if we can get for anything less than 3k it will be a good deal :)

Btw are the alibaba sellers reliable. I got a quote of around 520 $ shipped to India from HK via DHL express from a Gold Seller there for 10 nos of UMG 1831. 1 year warranty but the item have to shipped back to HK

sorry if my post meant otherwise. i did not mean price of this particular model. i meant all most all of the 3g modems on sale on ebay had their prices jacked up in a week or two.

imo, once the high prices of 3g data access makes a dent in the market, prices should fall down to sane levels hopefully.

any link for the docomo modem from where we can buy?

^^ the 3gmodemstore has antennas also, so if i buying from them please ask for antennas also. My antenna is not very good (rated 3Dbi only :( )

^^ Are this is an HSPA+ model...even international price in ebay and other sites are like 50-60$, gng up to even 70-80 in some cases.

Btw this is a very good model for whoever is interested...I saw one review where the user gets almost 9-10 Mbps on T-Mobile HSPA+ network :)

As these modems are sold in different regions, I don't think there will be a comparison. But it should be equally good, I think the K4505 is made by ZTE.

No not from them. The DoCoMo @ 3.5k seems to be good. But it will surely be locked and wouldn't unlocking the device void the warranty?

Anyway this is just the maximum price, the final price should be lesser. Can give a definite answer only once I get the goods.

I was planning to get from HK based sellers itself. The issue with them is that, have to buy minimum 10 pcs, pay by Wire Transfer and the associated risks. None of them accepts PayPal etc. So planning to place a test order for 10 pcs initially and considering the risks, transit damage, customs etc and ofcourse a profit margin, gave the price as 3.5k. But mostly should be able to give it for less.

^^ what if they run away

The UMG1831 sure seems good. in the last review, thre is a link to another HSPA+ modem review... it clearly states the UMG1831 is faster than that.

inform me if you [go]-ing.

Hmm I am trying the same...but leaving the importing part to one of the dealers :P..lets see what price I do get as well.

it is unlikely we will be getting a HSPA+ network

Err Docomo/Reliance/Airtel/Aircel all are going to be HSPA+ 21.6M network only :P

Its not HSPA+ ready but HSPA+ deployed network...current at 21.6 Mbps and upgradable to 28.8 Mbps.

At least domestic speeds are expected at upto 10 Mbps ....dunno abt international traffic

I think so.
It will be locked and unlocking will void warranty.....:(
