Again, If all Is FOSS, What should people involved in Software Industry do for basic needs ?? Should they die of starvation ????????

Though I do agree we should get to know what's in Windows Source code, As whole of Windows 7 could be the biggest malware disguised in a nice new look. Unless you get to see that its not from the Source Code.
 
I have a ubuntu server at office. It will not take static IP, and wont take DHCP. I have given up after a week's research on google etc. My whole office's windows network (50 machines) was setup in half the time.
 
Free Open Source Software Movement asks for the entire society to change to FOSS-then only ,the business model,development models can be evolved.:)I can not explain it in a authoritarian way.developers sure get there pay for the coding they does.but the basic idea of FOSS needs that the codes must be opened as it is the basic rights it offers.but currently ,FOSS movement really needs a revenue model which it is lacking to please developers.

I have one question to the OP....

what does he do for a living??

according to him if we went opensource..majority of us engineers will lose jobs...or our pay will be cut... coz fixing bugs is OUR job..hehehe...

No one hates linux tbh.. they just dont use it...

Actually i am typing this from linux...fedora... i find it too slow for me...hey maybe i am using it wrong..but i like my windows... but windows havent crashed on me for last few years.... so maybe i am good...

OP needs to vent some steam i suppose....well i read the thread..continue... :D

Umm....let's not malign Linux just for the heck of it...

It's the lack of knowledge on your network admin's part, and not an issue with Linux

There's no denying the fact that Linux is substantially more robust and powerful as a mid-tier server platform than Windows

The debate here is whether or not Linux is ready for primetime desktop PC usage..The majority opinion feels it isn't (including I)

But puhleez, do no drag in back-end setups into the picture...Linux is head and shoulders anbove windows in that department..It remains a difficult platform to setup on the backend side too, but stability and robustness are far more important crtieria over ease of use for the choice of a back-end platform..
