My friend just received an Iphone from his dad its about a year old and is running firmware 1.0.2 he has no idea how it was unlocked and now he wants to upgrade to 1.1.4.

So my questions are

1>How should he go about this upgrade I have read about Ziphone. Should I just click on prepare for upgrade ?

2>Is this update actually required ?

3> Will he lose all previously stored data on the phone ?

4>What is the easiest way to transfer contacts from his razr2 to the iphone.

Yes he can upgrade it to 1.1.4.

1> Please do not use zicrap. use iLiberty or winpwn to A,J,U.

2>Depands on him.if he just wants to showoff then 1.0.2 works.

1.1.4 has lots of new features and bugfixes.

3>He can backup the data via itunes. and later restore it.

4>Copy contacts to SIM in his razr. and then use 3rd party APP. like SIMPORT to import all contacts from sim to iphone.

Use WinPwn, it combines the best of other unlocking tools like Iplus, iLiberty, Ziphone. WinPwn lets you customize your firmware, and then actually after customizing(boot screen, packages...etc) you upload the firmware. You can get the instructions from here.

Even from the same site, you can get instructions for upgrading your firmware too.

Hmm, All buddies gave you good advices.. Thanks to all Apart from Paani [H2O I mean ]

My additional suggestion - Don't use ZiPhone, it will crap your iPhone as I've two iphones of no use, not booting

iLiberty, winpwn are best, safer...

Ok so basically this is what I do

So basically

1>He should take backup

2>He should update directly from itunes

3>He should run all the options from Iliberty+ except the last one cydia.



4>He should restore data from itunes.
