I received a call with number not revealed?

Can anyone Help me?I received a call in my mobile and it shows "Private no." and number is not revealed.The call is regarding a property sale and caller claims he is calling from madras.

Is there such facilities to hide number of the caller?OR ,A Call from Paid services VOIP?

Any idea?

seems like a call made using VOIP? Skype like services?
 
Private numbers are basically a facility which every operater provide....

All u need is police permission...like u some vip,celeb or person whose number can b misused and all...etc

Private numbers have been around since long back, while it was relatively easy to procure them earlier, it's not the same anymore..

Not necesserily, any thug with a good connection can get one..

two of my cousins had them till a while ago..

AFAIK VOIP does'nt say private no, they give out a small digit no like 5885 or just say Call
 
It was very easy to get private numbers upto 5-6 years back - the callers number is blocked from caller id displays on mobiles/ landlines. This requires you to have official police permission, and that was it.

Nowadays, very few people get this, but it does not mean everything is genuine/ above board. You should take caution.

My Parents used to call me through cheap voip providers when i was in India, and sometimes it was random 4 digit number sometimes just call or sometimes Private number.....

A friend of mine from India gave me a miss call recently from his Airtel number and what i got here on my Dubai number was a miss call from Private number

Its easy to get if u say u have a threat against your life.....my friends friend is some corporator daughter ..she has the number

with that reason.....

else only her pop is allowed for private number service....

And was ready to give the same service to my friendalso...

all u need is political connection at-least in mumbai
 
I was getting a private number some 2 months back for 15k. I thought it was pretty stupid to pay 15k just to hide your number so passed on the offer.
 
yes, there are facilities like these, but only for VIP & V VIP's or business men, actors, sports persons having valid security reasons, u have to get police clearance certificates, other legalities & its kinda hectic.
