seeing no replies i started installation of Xp... i installed it in my c:drive ( the drive where the previous installation was there ) and left the file system intact... Now... when the computer boots... only an option for booting into XP is there...

Wat does it mean...

Vista Gone or wat ?... Dont tell me that i'll havta install it back again... PLzzzzzzzzzz.......

boot into Vista install disk (not sure of exact words used) when you boot, choose to repair, and then have Vista check boot startup and it should re-write Vista boot files for you.

er... actually i dont have vista install disc and a dvd writer either...i have the vista setup in my HDD... so can anything be done with that ?

If you repair the boot startup from the Vista dvd your XP installation will be non-bootable. Same thing happened on a friend's system yesterday.

that problem happened to me when i installed xp after linux from a bootable disk,in my case the problem was that linux used grub boot loader which was removed from the default entry ehen i installed xp and i think vista also uses some other boot loader than win xp may be repairing that bot loader will help.

just format c:\ and do a clean installation of XP thru bootable all shud be well

Wohooo... problem solved.... and for those who were insisting me to Format n all,,,, here's the easy way out

Just download EasyBCD frm the operating system u r currently on... run it once.. and close it... and guess wat... u r back to business []... Njoy
