dude punker,

I really dont understand your logic about no of posts , i have been on techenclave for very long time and i visit it regulary and i post wherever i feel its neccesary to post , if i really want to increase my post i can go about in every deals forum and say good deal, cool deal (yea i have enuf time to comment on 100s of thread daily),and increase my no of posts if thats the point where you feel people should be trusted , at the end of a day even a guy with 1000 posts can just make a fool out of u , its only trust and instinct u should make such a deal , and the reason i created a thread was because i wanted to buy a death adder , now if people dont trust me they will not offer a deal as ur seeing in the thread , people who feel let me take a chance will offer a deal to sell to a newbie like me , if new members are not allowed to participate in such events i doubt any community will ever grow

well and i see absoulutely no harm in making a want to buy thread because the item will be shipped across to me only after i make the payment bcoz afaik all the deals on TE function this way ,

More the number of members, more is the chance to find hardware you're looking for. Restricting it makes no sense. You see like five, maybe 10, threads a year about deals going wrong which is very small compared to the number of deals taking place. Also most of them are sorted out between the two parties anyway.

A better rating system is in order though. Members need to start giving ratings carefully.

But that doesn't harm anyone unless they choose to do something unethical.

Anyway, I think its a pretty complex issue.

I guess if this itrust has some more options like smoothness of deal, etc for giving points to get a total score rather than being so good or bad or neutral, then we might have a better way of looking at it.

what im saying is these all sections should be locked for newbies as they are here only for these things.... and ya MODS should add some more options...

There isnt much of a problem in members being here only for market section, even if we do not like it cannot stop such people. The real problem is of such people doing unethical things.

The solution to the problem is an optimized itrader system (like on eBay) rather then just +1,0,-1 and members need to give as accurate/revealing as possible comments regarding there trade followed by appropriate ratings.

P.S Discussions such as these have taken place a lot many times before with no action, and mods do not have the power I reckon to make such changes and the administrators are too busy to find time. Although, all of this has been taken into consideration by the staff and I believe certain suggested and required changes will take place as and when the admins find time.

Blocking newbies does not make sense, as it is detrimental to grow of community.

If I post 100 thread will I become trusted person just because I replied here and there?

I am new here but regular at other forums.

In some cases there is stupidity on part of buyers.

The age old "Caveat emptor" always hold good.

Well, it's true that blocking newbies to access(in terms of post) in Market Section won't help, this is really not the solution for the issue, if mods are kind enough they can implement something like paisapay in order to make sure everything goes perfect.

^ For that TE will become a commercial portal.

Keep in mind that such arrangement involves legal compliance and there will be substantial costs.

Also,Ebay charges approx.5.5% commission so,either buyer or seller will pay that additional cost also.

All such bad guys must be banned IMO.I did face something like that an year ago and there's nothing I can do about it. I still have the faulty product with me. The bad guy is still in the wild and selling stuff on the forum.

This is purely based on trust, never buy suspicious looking stuff or stuff from suspicious people. There's nothing anybody can do about it. The seller will leave saying "it got damaged at your end" and gets away.

Well, you are right, in that case TE won't be as it is now, it would become a online hot deals site :P

I guess, we need to think some other ways out....

I'd say, the itrust system needs to be revised taking into account few more options for the rating such as condition of the goods shipped, communication, packaging, shipping etc. And instead of the 5-star rating adopted by ebay, simply have 3 options - positive, neutral and negative.

Who is this guy? It is worthwhile you mention the member's id for others' sake.

It is already an online hot deals site which happen to have a technical section. There was a time when it used to be vice-versa but lets face it. She (techenclave) is an online market. No point in denying it now nor trying to regret it. Best we could do is keep her steady and make sure the reputation which was built by many members over the years is not flushed down the toilet.

Seriously, remove those market rules. I am sure mods/admins are neutral when it comes to decision making so they should be "the judge, the jury and the executioner" by getting the story from both sides and taking the decisions accordingly. If one puts up a rule here, people find ways to go around it, using "loopholes".

Or we could just shut down the market sections.

Can all you moral cops take a break for a sec and try to address the current issue?

I am sure there will be enough time to talk abt big picture. Right now a guys money is at stake. No post helping him.
