I have an iBall iTower Cabinet iTower

I was thinking about installing some extra cooling fans. One on the side and another on the back. So i would like to know the size of the fans I need to buy.

Do I have to measure the diagonal length of the screw holes or the length of the sides?

I think both 80mm.

My suggestion - don't install the side fan, it will throw air with dust directly to the CPU, HSF and RAM. After all you have 'Built-in Heat Vent (Chimney) for additional ventilation' in the side which is enough. No need of fan.

Just install a good quality 80mm FAN at the back of the cabinet.

i think this cabinet has the option for a 120mm fan at the back.

check the rear vent. if there are screw holes for two different fan sizes then it will house a 120 mm fan besides an 80 mm one.

it is always best to have an 120mm rear exhaust IMHO..as i learnt the hard way..:P

how can i verify it? shd i measure the diagonal lenth between the screw holes or the side lenth?

fan sizes are given by side length...but in some cases i have seen them to be measured along the diagonal..so its kinda cofusing sometimes..

but you wont have to measure. if there is an option for both te fan sizes, you will see that there are two sets of screw holes, one set bit more separated than the other.

that is proof enough for the ability to accomodate an 120 mm fan.

Yes, this cabinet has the option for both 80mm as well as 120mm, but the 'grill' (air holes) size is of a 80mm so I don't think there will be much improvement over 120mm.

yes there are two set of holes. but the separation btw them is very little. anyway ill get a 120mm fan

i wanted to install fans cause my cpu tempearture is very high

Temperatures:

Motherboard 45 °C (113 °F)

CPU 42 °C (108 °F)

CPU #1 / Core #1 50 °C (122 °F)

CPU #1 / Core #2 52 °C (126 °F)

Temperature #2 43 °C (109 °F)

Temperature #3 48 °C (118 °F)

Temperature #4 51 °C (124 °F)

Seagate ST3320620AS 38 °C (100 °F)

is there something i can do about that. i tried reseating the HSF the temps decreased a bit but still high.

well the easiest (albeit more expensive) solution is to get a bigger cabby with better airflow, preferably one where u can have front intake fans aswell.

if not, and you have a free weekend, time to do some cable management man!! if your cabby's mobo tray allows it, run the cables from the PSU to the mobo/ other devices under it, also buy a pack of zipties and bunch cables that are together.

here are a few links, first being the TE cable management gallery, check the pics out, so you'll get a basic idea..

please read my post above.!!

ill be buying a new cabby later but currently i need a solution to this. ill try to properly manage the cable but im a real noob in that.

is there anything else i can do?
