Hi

I know that one normally doesn't directly company a speaker setup to an IEM or to a HP, however, in layman's terms, in terms of sound quality, bass and music appeal, which IEMs/HP budget/model would directly come in the league of the AE5s.

I had Senn CX 500. They had better mid range and were more detailed than AE5s. However, overall the AE5s sounded better. I now have a Sound Magic PL 50 + E5 (which I prefer to my previous setup, again with the E5).

The AE5 has more punchy bass and is more musical. However, the PL 50 + E5 has more clarity and is clearer.

So basically do IEMS in the range of 2-4k come in league with AE5. If yes, then why do people think so highly of AE5s?

And which headphones would equal AE5? And which IEMs?

for a IEM/ headphone to be compaired to speakers!! ...huge soundstage IEM....RE1 with a good 4K amp ( lol....stretched your budget)

detail and clearity will be better with most IEMs

but Bass+soundstage+good mids .....is expensive territory

Can you give me this info:

A) How much do I need to spend to compare with AE5?

1. Headphone

2. Earphone

B) How much do I need to spend on speakers to compete with Sound Magic PL 50?

C) How much do I need to spend on speakers to compete with UE TFi 10?

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

And also, will B&W Zeppelin or MM1 be a huge upgrade from my AE5?

Rite ,

People prefer IEMS of different nature according to thier music preference ,Some can live with less bass ,Some want high bass it depends ,What kind of music do you listen to

What I want is:

A good amount of thumpy bass

Nice and sweet mids

As clear and detailed as my budget permits

I want these three things in order of preference.

Audioengine A5 + Asus Xonar DX

and

Soundmagic PL 50 + FiiO E5
Well,

For Clarity in the mid and high section pl50 is ok ,But overall its not that great as there is less bass .So if you prefer more bass try the m2 + you can also improve everything else by using a better sound card like the asus st/stx .

^WTH!!
no, no IEM can mmatch the sound space of a speaker.....speakers are physically placed distantly...IEMs simulate that.

you can compare the the attributes ..( that too feels sick to compare ).
moreover with speakers the room also counts

if you want everything of a headphone to be bettter than AE5 then HD800 is the only choise ......80K

But as far as the clarity and clearness is concerned, including hearing each and every voice, my PL 50 pwns my AE5.

The AE5 sounds more musical and has more thumping bass, albeit, only at high volume.

IMO PL 50 and AE5 are comparable overall, depending upon what you want.

So UE SuperFi 5 and above should be better than AE5 is almost all respects at least. Right?

yeah clearity wise .IEMs tripph over speakers (damn ....what insane comparison speakers v/s IEM ...!!)

clearity, bass ....M2 shlddo the trick..

Finally why compare....eenjoy both
PS: DAMN this iball keyboard ...!!

Speakers / IEMs / Headphones have their own type of sound. They are not really directly comparable.

Some people prefer one over the other.

Here's the thing. Its VERY difficult to get close to exactly the same sound with a headphone / IEM / Speaker.

Each has its own strengths/weaknesses/sound signature etc.

So while a speaker will have a very open/wide soundstage it will not give you isolation like an IEM.

Similarly while headphones can give a good amount of bass, it cannot compare with having a dedicated subwoofer.

Ya, but assuming that speakers don't have a separate sub woofer, if you then compare them to HPs/IEMs?

Will Monster Turbine Pro Gold have more bass/quality than my AE5?

I can get them for like 9k all inc. Is that a good deal?

yeah thats a good deal ....monstor pro gold have great bass
BUT there are a lot of fake monstor pro in the market...be ware ...only buy from the person/site you can trust

Come on man, 9k isn't like dirt cheap.

Till some time back, one could purchase a UE Triple Fi 10 for sub $200-250 shipped to India from giant sellers.

So 9k for a Monster Gold isn't all that great a deal.

A Monster Pro Vanilla can be bought for something like 5k+- shipped.

all i am saying that people at head-fi have baught pro gold at $150 ...only to find out that its fake.

and TF10 not anymore ....its very tough to find tf10 at even 250 now
