@strategy, rite: why can't TF10 be bought at 200$ now? What has changed/happened? Logically they should get cheaper with time.

TF10 was aimed at heghend IEM market from the start with its $390 price....nothing changed
it was just this $99 amazon sale ( last year) due to which the market price of TF10 was affected .....now its stabilised at around $280

You can get a Triple Fi 10 around $300, and around $250+ if you are lucky.

However, this doesn't include the shipping price which could raise the price by over $50 (when taking India into consideration).

TF10 are great if you can get them at around 12.5....above that better options are available( unless you elly lik the bass and treble of TF10)

also 15 K for tf10 is no go for me ....i'd rather save up and get the UM mage

What brand does the UM Mage belong to? How much does it cost? How is its bass?

And it is nearly impossible to get a TripleFi 10 for 12.5 shipped.

Come on dude. There is a huge difference btw 12-14k (the price of Triple Fi 10) and 26k at exactly double the price.

Going by that logic, everybody should go in for double their budget :P

lol

I am also curious as to which IEMs give a better sound than TF10. :)

I am only talking universals of course. The general consensus many people have is that the TF10s are among the best universals out there. The only thing really lacking is the mids coz the bass, treble , soundstage are all top notch.

Customs is a bit dicey as if you dont like them there is little you can do since you have to sell them for almost half of the new price.

Oh Brendon you should try the CK10 or the Westone UM3x. You will definately love them bro. Especially the latter.
The UM3x is somewhat like this......think of the TF10's, minus a pinch of bass, add a pinch of mids, with highs close to RE0.

Samething with the CK10's, much more comfy than the both with the best of both.

Although its all up2 your taste at the end.

Like a great man once said......after a certain point, once you enter the premium segment, upgrading iems is more horizontal than vertical..... O wait, that was me :D

"Great Man"! Did you try both UM3X and CK10?

Someone said UM3X has very artificial kind of separation - like each instrument in it's own room, not like everything within the same space. Is it true?

And isn't CK10 bass light and even DBA-02 supposed to have more bass compared to it?

Wouldn't IEM better than TF10 have similar or better bass, treble + improved (or relatively more forward) mids?

Stop tempting me ! :P

I am done with portable audio.

Just placed an order for a DAC. Should get it by next week. And no its not the Audinst. Decided to go the purist route and get separates for the DAC and amp.

All I can say is that this DAC is very good VFM. :D

After that I am getting am amp to replace the Compass and then I am out of audio upgrades for a loooong time ! :)

well no one is satisfied with his hardware ....I am different ( i am satisfied but...i want more )
indeed toxic has great offers on bayerdynamic, AT and AKG 701 ....and local warranty too
infact CK 10 deal is great ......( i get a discount now ...eh toxic )

Although i'm not much of audiophile I can do a head to head of TF10 and monster turbine copped ed...since i've listened to both... I found sound of monster turbine better...Tf10 has sparky highs which is good thing but sometimes it sounds too bright and sounded harsh with few songs, turbine pro has more refined sound, which is by no means dull...and also it has higher quantity of bass which is by no means boomy..its very well controlled..Also instrument separation on turbine pro is just great...you don't even need a trained ear to detect it..its really very good...

Also some other cons of tf10 are its fit is very picky..I couldn't get a proper fit even with the Sony Hybrid tips (recommended on headfi if you have problems) on the other hand Monster turbine ships with huge selection of tips about 8-10..one of them is sure to fit you well....

And cable of tf10 (or for that matter any other UE earphones) is very delicate, mine just got spoilt within 3 months and its not specific case of me..if you look up on net..almost every other UE earphone user is suffering due to bad cable of them...So unless you have local support i don't recommend anyone importing them. If you can't send them back, it will cost you $20 to import the cable separately...Good thing I sold them after getting them replaced, although it was little early..If I sold them now it would have fetched more :( lol

@ strategy! - sure bro lol just pm me whenever u and brendon are ready :)

@ haste - i sold my tf10s for 7.5 with a upgraded cable. imagine how i feel!!! (face palm)

@esanthosh : the ck10 is bass light. You are right about that. Kinda like the K701 of iems if you may. But it has its own sparkle and comfort level simply cuz they were so darn small compared to the UM3x and the TF10. Like i said they have highs like the RE0, they are easier to drive though. Lets jus say its a Level 2 for Re0 fans.

CK10 Review by Shigzeo
About the UM3x, the instrument seperation part(can't believe how i forgot about that cuz that the first thing you notice and the UM3x coming from a TF10 as my primary), yes they had a very good/wide instrument seperation. I tried it with Color of the moon and couple of other Flacs on my sflo2 from the B&W reference album and the instrument seperation was much more than the TF10's. Why do you think its a bad thing by saying "like they are in a diff room"? Isn't that better imaging?

@brendon : i'm sure its not the Audinst, otherwise i would've been to one to collect it 4m the dealer himself ;) So which was is it, especially after your selling the Audio-gd compass for it so it has to be good.

@haste : what was the source?

@toxic : all i wanna say to you is Thanx :D :D :D

your welcome bro!!! all this iem talk is making me type headfi in firefox haaha must resist!!! even then im sure ill be reading the ck10 n wm3x reviews later. i really wonder how these compare to the jh5 though u know midrange and detail .. if its right up there then due to comfort and jh warranty the jh5 is a clear winner but @ a 8k price more. what if we throw a shure 535 in the mix. the new badboy on the block. any reviews out for it yet?? coming back to the original topic.. its difficult to compare iem vs speakers. both have their pro / cons .. id suggest to keep both lol i love my krk's and im sure id like a pair of iems aswell. the problem is.. which one to go for now post a tf10!

TF10 for 7.5!!!.....! ....helped a freiend i'd say
thats cheap for TF10 ....they are a worth more(a lot) ...i will be selling either tf10 or the re262 in future....cause the TF10 just cant give me the soundstage and (....er...sorry..) Highs of K702 . ....thus looking at customs and SM3.

and by no means AKG are bass light ......they just ar not bass heavy ( i am planing to import 4-5 opamps for its dac to improve the bassquality and sound stage more!)
