Its been 2 months now and my ping in SG and other server still hasen't come down to its usual 80 m/s.Its been at 500 ping for soo long. This is so retarded, my ISP don't even give a damn about the problem.Im paying 1.2k a month but have paid 7k for 6 months. My download speed is a horrible 5kbps and Im supposed to be getting around 9-11kbps on my 128kbps connection.:@ :@

I hope I'm not the only one with this problem and I hope others can understand the amount of frustration Im facing here.

And the worst part is, there isn't any other ISP here except for MTNL, which is lame because of its limited plans. The last time I used MTNL I ran a bill of 8k....thats for a 2gb limited plan which actually was for about 2k or something I don't remember, thats how much I download/game online.:@

Is there anyone else with this problem?

Airtel is no better.

I called them up the other day and told him abt pings to SG serves being high. He told me to test speed. Obviously no problems.

He said, "sir, you are getting full speed, there is nothing I can do".....

I tried telling him that if my IP address changes, then the pings come back to normal. but he just wouldnt listen...

All dumb morons...

Same thing is happening with me... The only difference is i am on Sify... Getting good download sppeds but lamest of pings... 500+ pings... Welll this is the second day so waiting till another few days... Lets see if this thing is temporary :\...

Lol, what did I tell ya yesterday...:p

Enjoy playing on Soviet servers now :bleh: !

@Anish STFU noob... The routing is basically done via US... Thats why i am getting crappy pings... I will try to get the routing chaged via Airtel... BTW lamers on dial up should think twice before speaking...

^^for airtel users...keep reconnecting the modem till u get the ip of 59.*.*.* thru 64.*.*.* . Any ip within this range will give the best pings to SG servers the airtel can proivide....

as for the airtel cc goes, last time i called up the airtel cc & told them abt the problem it was fixed within a day....turned out some problem in my areas' router...:)...airtel pwns many other ISPs...:P

ON topic...

So, could my ping be because of routing problems?

well any ping problem is coz of routing issue or the hub or router going bust. how do you know your ip is static? go to WhatIsMyIP.com - 207.58.182.106 and check ur ip and see if it changes everytime you re-connect, if it does then you have dynamic ip, and well not much can be done with ur pings unless the backbone that is providing exatt the bandwith changes, if it is static though then something can be done about it like asking for some other ip range or something like that

in either of these cases, i suggest you to do this

go to dos, and type tracert Yahoo! India

then copy paste the entire thing here...

I went the whatsmyip.com and it is the same everytime I re-connect.

yours then obviously is a static ip

though incase u didnt read in my above post, that trace route graph would help in pinpointing the problem...

sigh...

go to dos (start > run > cmd > press enter)

type

"tracert www.yahoo.co.in" without the quotes

let the trace be complete..

then copy the entire thing and paste it here....
