I bought New Sennheiser HD 380 Pro. I got upset after using it for just one time itself! I expected nice bass for hip-hop songs but it was playing like same as my old 'Philips SHP 1900'. Only difference is or thing I liked is that I can't here outside noise. So what you think? My Dell XPS M1210 Laptop sound card is not good enough for this new headphone? what else i need? please help :(

I suppose you need to burn-in those headphones. This is true with IEMs but am not sure about headphones. But that holds true for them also AFAIK.
Connect them to your mp3 player and play the white and pink noise back to back continuously at middle volume when you are not listening with them
Download them from here

Burn-in wave files: white noise, pink noise, frequency sweep, channel mix

I had bought the RE2 (IEM) some time back and they sounded crap out of the box. I felt that i wasted 2.5k on them :@ But now there is no looking back. They sound absolute heaven and combined with E5 it is pure bliss. I had to go for more than 150+ hrs burn in to achieve this SQ.

You do this and come back to this thread and i am sure you will have good things to say :)

^^ No No You don't need to buy that. That i bought because the RE2 are low on bass and hence to complement it.

You just do the burn in thing and all will be fine.

Do not buy the E5 now...i don't think you need it.

no sennheiser will give enough bass for hip-hop as they all are weak

if you want bass you need Beyerdynamic DT150, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro or Pioneer HDJ-2000

^^ I suppose you are only talking about headphones and not IEMs from sennheiser :S
Because what i have heard (never heard the earphone though) that those CX series in-earphones do pack lots of bass.

If you think Senns bass is weak you need to try the HD650 properly amped. You guys like boom-boom, go in for the shaadi speakers, you know the ones mounted on lamp posts...

Dude ! Come over to my place and hear the HD650 paired with my Taurus home amp. If the amount of bass does not satisfy you, then nothing ever will ! If I turn up the bass all the way up it will literally vibrate with the bass impact on your head !

I ordered ASUS Xonar U1 Audio Station. Lets see how HD 380 Pro work on that :)

Have you first tried burning in your headphones yet ? I recommend at least 50 hours by playing pink noise as raksrules suggested.

The ASUS Xonar U1 is a USB audio card right ? That is not so great for music. If you can cancel that order get a USB DAC instead. Will be cheaper and have better sound.

If you cant cancel the order dont fret, its not a bad sound card and will be an improvement over your XPS onboard sound. :)

Even My S 805 jumps abt my head when I Hit full bass:bleh:

@OT U should have considered Maudio Q40 reference HPs tht were on sale.....I read reviews abt it. Very good for the price.(they are reference Hps so no exaggeration in sound)

I hope 380s are not like 280 which is well very su*king:D

I already feel my head vibrate with my dt150 on a xfi forte's headphone amp without touching any bass settings

by the way if I could walk I would hop on a flight to Mumbai to try them asap :P

@Vandal, you so called audiophiles just analyze music & not enjoy it ;)

I prefer enjoying music by hearing it the way I want even if on Shaadi Speakers :bleh:

Update: Just got to know that Shaadi Speakers play low frequency really well :D

Today I received ASUS Xonar U1 installed, converted mp3's Now this HD 380 Pro headphone sounds wow!.....What a sound..better then what I expected :)

I am also contemplating on getting the Xonar U1. Is it worth it? Hows the drivers? Any issues you faced during or after installation?

It's my first day using Xonar U1. I have found No issue so far. I liked it and it's worth! No problem in drivers. For better hearing you need to convert mp3's using Asus PMP Lite software provided by them (which is in driver CD).

How's the CPU usage front. I intend to use it for gaming, not music. Have you tried gaming on it? btw, how much did it cost you?
