Guys, i need ur help....
I have a seagate 320gb 7200.10 3320620as hdd which is under warranty.....
It has slowed down suddenly...not even video plays correctly....nor the internet...it's like slo-mo.....system is takin more than a minute to boot....i'm getting blue screen errors and delayed write failure messages...so i formated c and installed xp 64 again...everything works smoothly for 1 hour.....hdtune showin the normal 70mb/sec......but again the prob reappears..........the strange part is when i used hdtune again......it is now showin 2~3mb/sec....what the hell just happened???

Check whether the HDD is running in PIO mode as against DMA mode. I had a similar problem (slow machine - slo-mo performance - high processor usage). axeman suggested checking for the PIO mode and that was the culprit.

Just removed the drivers for Primary IDE drive from Device Manager and rebooted. The system picked up the drivers after the next boot and the HDD went to DMA mode and I lived happily ever after :)

Strange.... I tried checkdisk using xp cd and it stopped at 60% saying there was one or more irrecoverable probs....so i restarted the comp again but system kept on restartin.... Upon checking with xp cd again, i found that c got completely formatted.....how the hell did that happen?

If currently you have the OS installed and it has blue screened then go to command prompt and type the command - eventvwr.
This will open event viewer. Within it go to System logs and locate all the events step by step where in the column "Type" should indicate Error. In these events you will find one with the information about the blue screen error that happened. Most likely it should be before or after the Event ID 6008.
Once you find it. Right click the event and select properties. Once the event information window options there is a button to copy it. Click on it and paste it here in the forum.
If you have any oporutinity to back up your data to some other drive then do that and then go to the above mentioned Seagate website to download seatools and then Zero Fill it. It will wipe out your drive and try to fix as what it mentions in the website.
