In desperate need of ur help techies:help2: ...

I've shifted base to Chennai, n i'm in need of a PC here. And all i can shell out is 20k-22k rite now. I've decided on the following config, and rely on u techies to give me the 'go'.

Will use it mostly for gaming, and since i'm on a budget now, i've decided to upgrade it later. I just want to know if the below mentioned config is good enuf for forming the base.

Asus A8N-E Mobo ~ 5.6K
AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ ~ 6.6K
512Mb Ram (any make) ~ 2.5K
80GB Sata ~ 2.5K
Combo Drive ~ 2.5K
KB+Mouse ~ 0.6K
Power Supply ~ ?
Cabinet ~ ?
I've decided to go in for a second hand monitor now(will upgrade to an LCD later), and i hav a spare 2.1 channel speaker which i can use here.
So, the total comes up to arnd 21k without monitor.

Guys, plzzzz help me out here, I'm pathetic when it comes to H/W. I'm completely relying in on u guys.

If there are any flaws with the config i've mentioned, then plz give me a new config for a gaming pc baring speakers, ups and modem.

Plz help me out ppl:)

never go for inbuilt dude.sux big time.i cant even play CSS with my onboard.i'd suggest a 6600gt minimum

@crazyeddy - can u suggest anyother mobo for the above config plz...that is, i can upgrade to a 6600 later, but i want the base to be good as of now.

@all - ok i'm really confused with this:- In order to get a display on my screen, is it a must that i shud get a graphics card if i go for a A8N-E? or will i get a display without adding a graphics card?

@ Fash : Yes, for any kind of display on your screen, you will need a graphics card for your A8N-E as it has NO onboard graphics.

I would suggest the Asus A8N-VM as memories_dv mentioned. Its around ~ 4.2K. Comes with onoard graphics that are around the level of a nV 6200 card. You will not be able to game extravagantly, but then again you do have a budget. The board has a PCI-E 16x slot, should you decide to upgrade to an external more powerful graphics card.

May I also recommend a DVD writer, instead of a Combo drive.. since DVD writers are around ~ 2.8K.

You could try looking at www.deltapage.com , for current pricing of hardware components in Chennai.

mobo A8N-VM - 4200
cpu AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ - 6100
80GB Sata Baracuda - 2600
Ram Transcend 512 Mb - 2350

as Crazy_Eddy suggested go for DVD writer 2600.as u want to ugrade later i would recommend
Antec Smart Power 2.0 350W for 6600GT Rs 2900
Antec Smart Power 2.0 400W for 6800GT Rs 3700
Regarding cabinet u can go for Zebronics in the range of Rs 1000-1500

total approxx 23K-24K.u can get all from delta or from any other good shop if u known one

Hey you can get the Antec 360W PSU for less than 2k here. Its an older type but supplies about 18A on the +12V. That should be sufficient for the rig, even after the addition of a decent graphics card like the 6600gt or the 6800 series.

Actually a cheapo one will work well for now - i had assembled the same config for a friend and a Rs350 supply that gave 16A on the +12V. The PSU itself was rated for a total of 350W only. Rails were rock solid and accurate. Dont know how it might behave with the addition of a good graphics card though.

PS : when i meant same config - i meant the same 4 components as yuvraj mentioned and an optical drive.

Raghu.

well for PSU you can even consider Powersafe 400W PSU which costs arnd 1500 bucks..and is pretty decent.......i'd also suggest you get a SATA II HDD( Hitachi) which sells for abt 2800 for 80GB ......for MOBO u can also consider MSI K8NGM2-IL its based on nforce 6100/410 chipsets..has pciex slot, sata II ports,8 USB 2.0 etc....3000+ venice core + MOBO should cost arnd Rs.10300...and if u get this MSI boardu get SATA II too...double the speed of SATA I.

You need to have some kind of graphics device on your computer. Either a builtin solution or one that fits to a PCI-E/AGP/PCI slot.

You can disable your internal graphics and use external when you add one to your computer.

that only i m saying a display card one of 200-400 bucks in pci slot wont hlp or wht????

hey thats good if he can get display card of 200-400 bucks he can go for ASUS A8N-E -5700 later upgrade to 6600GT or 6800GT

or the other option might b msi rs482m2-il, with on board ati x200 ,sata, firewire, pci-e, fr around 4500. latter he can add :cool2: gfx card on the pci-e slot.

Just one important Question- Are you going to overclock your proccy??

IF YES> Get Asus A8NE rev 2.0 + cheap display card for now= zero gaming till you get any PCIe GPU!! Else Squeeze in a 6200TC for low level gaming!!

IF NO> Get Asus A8N-VM or MSI RS480/482 for OK gaming till you get a PCIe GPU!!

Guys, please correct me!!

Yes bikenstein, you will be corrected :)

Get the Biostar 6100-M9 Motherboard whatever your needs may be. It overclocks like a mofo and has good onboard graphics. You will miss out on some like the ATX layout, firewire, SATA 2. I doubt you will use them anyway.

Raghu.

@all - i've decided to go with A8N-VM and the same config i've stated at the begining of this thread, and later i can upgrade my graphics. Thanx so much everyone.

^ I would recommend the Biostar board too, which Raghu has mentioned if you ever decide to overclock. And trust me nobody can stay away from the overclocking bug ;)

Its identical to the Asus A8N-VM, based on the same nforce4 IGP chipset. Priced quite similarly too - and should be cheaper.
