Well, now that we have booked my 5800 :bleh: , RoBoGhOsT and me were looking to buy some good canal type earphones via KMD. We had nearly zeroed in on the Sennheiser CX-500 for 30$ off eBay , but later found out that they were most probably fake. Now we have come down to the CX-400 from J&R: Electronics, Digital Cameras, Computers, Appliances, Software, Video Games, DVDs, CDs ..

Sennheiser CX-400B Classic Line Earbud Headphones - Black in Corded Headphones at JR.com

Are they good earphones, if anyone has used them ? Any other better earphones in this category falling in the same price-range ?

K. What about the crossroads ? Will they fit the bill ?

EDIT : just checked Jaben's site. The Mylar x3i's have been replaced by the Bijou 2 and 3's . Kinda out of our budget at 57$ :(

Hmm. Will check out the PLs and the Denon's.

@Nikhil - Me want the thump. Have EP-630's already, but i think can use something better :P

BTW, had a look at the SoundMagic PL-30 reviews. Seem to be good. Where are they available ? Only eBay or somewhere like newegg or amazon ?

^^ check out kknda's show off. he got em off of some site based in hongkong. i don't think you'll find these on newegg/amazon. he ordered it directly by himself.

I have the cx-400's. They are good, I have only the ep630 and the mylar xbi (or whichever one stalker has/had) and a cx-300 for comparison. The mylar's sounded more like monitor speakers, the ep-630 though better than my sony photopia earphones sound shit while the cx-300 has a lot of bass, a lot more than my liking.

The sound coming out of the cx-400 is crystal clear and while most earphones fail to reproduce treble properly resulting is the treble being garbled, the cx-400 reproduces it clearly without messing up the sound.

I think the sound is more balanced in the cx-400 and the response to the equalizer is quiet good (not sensitive exactly but better than other earphones).

Well , the guys over at head-fi.org are recommending that we spend a little more and get the NuForce NE-7M . @50$ , they are said to be the best VFM earbuds, along with added features like a mic for your Mobile phone, which is my major use. :P

^^ afaik mylarones are not sold any longer. they are basically older gen products from crossroads.. mylarones.. followed by x3/xb series.. followed by x3* series.. followed by the current bijou series.

If you wnat heavy bass in the mylarones look for either an xbi or an xb. not sure where you'll find either though.

Those guys love the NuForce NE-7M, Im thinking of getting it from KMD.

I was looking at the Nuforce. But slightly expensive at 49$. Lemme see if i can extend my budget. Coz they have a support for phones also with the added mic. But actually i might stick with the CX400 series as the phone already comes with a mic hands-free box with a 3.5mm jack.
