Long way to go but there is no better country than the one you are born in.

Those who want dictatorship, a brief stint in China/mid east will show how bad that is and how good it is to live in a democratic country.

60 years have passed since we became free, and we have made tonnes of developments. Only if :no: corruption :no: can be curbed somehow , India would be so much better:@ . I guess its upto us to choose the proper government, because thats how all this can end. Otherwise, I don't think there's any other way out.:ashamed:

Hey nikhil, I am behind you on this.....we desperately need to get rid of this so called democracy................a democracy is the way to go in literate and developed society , not in nations like India with more than half the populaion illiterate in many states...........these poor people just make sure that they stay that way....by voting mindlessly...........and so the much hyped democracy comes to nothing in the end....and we have the likes of mr Lalu Prasad Yadav holding key ministries and enjoying huge public popularity.
 
The Politicians, who practice divide and rule.

The Reservations and $hit, they are slowly destroying the future of bright Indian students by Piling up the Reservations and then asking votes for them in return (I felt like Murdering YSR when I saw a billboard showing him wearing a minority appeasing dress and proudly declaring that he has now implemented the 4% additional quota he had promised).

I feel like we should call the British back to govern us, atleast there were less reservations and less division among the people at that time.

Not even God knows who is running this country now.

It definitely would, only if ours were an active democracy. But it isn't, and an active benevolent dictatorship is better than a dead democratic mess any day.
 
If only that idea were scalable for countries beyond the size of Singapore.

Where is the benevolent in the case of China ?

which also isn't very multi-cultural to begin with..

Yes that is very true in a fantasy world, but the reality is that power corrupts and then the same benevolent dictator will do anything to remain in power.

At least you get a say, in a dictatorship, you'd be dead my friend.
Democracy might not work as you want it to, but thats why its there, because it can't be orchestrated.A democracy gives u rights to come post here..to come here and openly criticise the govt. quite honestly you don't recognise the freedom u have....
 
I was thinking today.

Is it better to have a democracy where people starve, where 10 yr old kids beg or sell Indian Flags at Traffic Signals or have a communist type of givt where freedom of the people and press is curtailed but at least the people are alive, eating 2 square meals a day and are educated??
 
Are you suggesting we introduce social security in India ?..a minimum wage ?

Might see our income taxes jump a good 15%, i wonder which party would want to propose that :)
 
LOL, those bickering about the netas need to calm down. Why don't you stand for the elections? Do you even go out and vote? If you don't participate in the election process then you have no reason to crib about the "illiterate" politicians.

Lemme guess, you'll probably run off to amreeka or birtain if they give you a job which involves computers won't you?
