India’s ‘Make in India’ Faces Collateral Damage

Artillery is a good example of make in India. Other areas in the defence sector too and growing. So obviously there is such a thing as 'Make in India', just you and others are ignorant of it. I only have to point to one area where this is true to debunk your assertion.
Defense is just one sector. Our Chinese imports have gone up under Modi. No wonder our reliance on china is increasing day by day.

What stops us making these screws eventually ourselves? We already make lots of parts for export in the auto sector and for over a decade now
Yup. It's thanks to China. More and more critical parts of Indian automobiles come from China today. I mentioned the same thing in one thread.

One example, Audi didn't or couldn't add ADAS in it's new Q7. I mean, what Germans getting that incapable now? Whereas it's now basic technology in most Mahindra/Tata cars. Our Indian companies are getting this techs from China. It's literally available off the shelf. Whole dashboards come ready-made from China. That's the reality of Make in India.

India and its future growth is unstoppable.
Please explain why. Is it just because someone saying it? Is it complacency?

We are an unassisted economy. Despite facing sanctions we grew. What China is doing is a mini version of sanctions. Been there done that. I want you of all people to internalise this.

Examples of assisted economies are Germany, Japan & China. Especially China. How do you think they made so much progress. All due to American help and peace dividend for over half a century. The 100 yr marathon by Michael Pilsbury should be on your reading list.
And, what difference does it make? A dead soldier killed by an enemy's superior albeit copied weapon can't claim morel victory. Dead is just dead.

Interesting. So they do fear India at some level then. Because most don't believe it.
It is true. Although, there are many similarities between Chinese and Indian people culturally, this one thing makes us very different.

Indians are hella complacent. And, Chinese aren't.

This is real for an average Indian conservative.

Here, the defense people complaining decade longer delay in getting Tejas planes.

And, there China didn't even bother to unveil / announce / market their sixth gen(?) planes.

It is such a great advertisement for 'Make in India' defence products when you are afraid to use them in a fly past on Republic Day.

due to increased various kind of mfg. factory/machinery etc. plant setup activates, increased demand for more and more electronic gadgets (chips/battery etc.) few things need to export to make finished products like laptop, pc, EV, solar panel, battery and lot more .. till you don't self reliant no harm to take help, it is better than stop everything or buy at higher cost (from other countries except China) and increased inflation or cost of products at home (in India)

.. there are some restrictions on India about few high-tech defense missiles etc. If India officially declared/showcase that we achieved that technology or range or speed than there are lot of restrictions/sanctions awaited from USA. And those sanctions are really really very hard hitting that India might force to stop nearly ALL SUCH activities... remember Cryogenic Engine sanctions by USA and it even STOP Russia to provide same engine ... and we got setback for nearly 10 years not only in Space but also in other defense/civil sectors...

I am specifically talking about "customized" as if you buy a normal laptop from lenovo from store/online, they deliver in a day or instantly, but customized laptops have to be imported from china. In my case there was no delay whatsoever. So what an article says doesn't mean anything compared to consumer experience.
