If that was the case then many mobiles with custom ROM and kernel would blow up. But it's not happening because batteries have Battery Management System chips. And they have all the power to limit the power.

I know that but hardware is not everything. The kernel codes matter a lot.

True, my macbook pro refuses to charge with all type c chargers except the one that came with it. But I am able to charge my phone with macbook charger (fast charging).
The macbook shows charging indicator but on hovering over it says Not Charging. It has to be software level block.
