US-based Apple has tied up with Airtel and Vodafone to bring iPhone in the country.

Asked at what price it will be available, Bharti Airtel officials declined to give details.

"Introducing iPhone in India further underscores Bharti's commitment to enrich the communication experience of Airtel users," Kapoor said.

The price of the 8gb model is 16k i.e. i guess more than expected:(!!

Prices are still not out bro, And I give you my words. It wont be 16K without contract. Without Contract it'll be nothing less than 22K Yes am talking about 8gb model. Rest lets wait and watch.

If the price is 16k without contract why would people buy ipod touch?? Even nokia's ugly phones cost more than 20k!

Just gave away may phone number to the airtel relationship center. if its price at what they say ($199) it would would be a good buy. lets see...

I'm still praying like mad that vodafone wins the 3g auction.
Stop praying then, coz vodafone will get it anyway. There are around 11 3G licenses to be given away in most states, 7-8 in some (like mumbai) and then only 4 in states (like delhi).

Voda would not like to give up somethign it already has experiece in.

after mtnl which automaticlly qualifies, there are only 2 slots left for gsm operators (only one slot if mtnl forms a part those 2 slots) in the delhi and mumbai circle.. ideally vodafone n airtel will win.. but u never know. it may also be noted that it is being termed as a "global auction".

Airtel and Vodafone are sure to win because they are launching the iPhone 3G and if they dont get a license then whats the point in selling a product that is marketed as a 3G mobile device. About other operators, Idea should get it. Smaller operators (if i can call them so) like Aircel, Spice and BPL may not get the license (at least not for now).
