Just wanted to post my poor experience with Infibeam. I place an order for Edifier DA5000 speakers from them on 23rd Jun 2011. I was given time lines of Jun 29th for shipping and Jul 5th for Delivery. I paid by credit card.

I called them 3 days later to get an idea of when they will be actually shipping. The CC lady just repeated the same worst case time lines that were mentioned in the site. She had no data when the actual shipping would take place and she had no interest in finding out later. She just kept repeating that the shipping would be done by Jun 29th. (What is the point of having CC reps when they don't even have any solid data on the orders)

As always, I am lenient with dealers and believe in letting them work at their own pace as long as its within their specified worst case time lines that they provide. So I let them take their time and called them back on 29th. The CC lady who took the call told me that it would be shipped the same day, but when I asked if its 100% confirmed, she tells me she has no idea. I called back in the evening and another guy (who actually seems to have some interest in the business) told me he would find out and let me know. I told him I would like to cancel the order if it cannot be shipped out by next day as I had planned to go out of station this week and I wouldn't be around to receive it if they shipped it too late. He calls back and tells me that that the order cannot be shipped that day but it would be 100% shipped the next day. He told me that their reps would call to talk something reg the order the next day before its shipped. When I asked the reason for the delay so far, he tells me that its delayed because I paid by credit card. (What the heck, people pay by credit card because its the fastest and easiest mode of payment online) He tells me that cash deposit and cheque/DD are fastest. (Did he just tell me that Posting a cheque/DD to them is faster than paying by credit card?)

Anyway, next day, I didn't get any update from them till afternoon, So I called them up and had a chat with them. So the guy tells me that the DA5000 model that I ordered is no longer in stock and they are ready to offer me the DA5000 Pro for 866/- more which I need to transfer to them. They promised that it could be shipped the same day i.e 30th Jun if I pay (The guy knew that the item was not in stock even the day before, but chose not to tell me then. Why do they even need to wait a week and one more day to tell me that the item was not in stock.

To make a cash transfer to their HDFC account, I have to first add them as Beneficiary and wait 24hrs before making a deposit. Had they told me the situation a day earlier when they already knew, I would at least have been able to make a quick transfer. Even my NEFT time frame on my other account was over for that day. Next day when I was ready to make the transfer via NEFT, I found that the status of my order shows that it has been already shipped the day earlier and a tracking number was provided. So I thought maybe it was an act of good will to ensure that I get it on time. I confirmed with them that the order was indeed shipped and I made an NEFT for the amount immediately on 1 Jun. I told them that the amount would reflect in their account by 2nd Jun as RBI was closed on 1st. I sent them a copy of the NEFT for verification.

So there I was waiting for the courier to arrive like an idiot. Yesterday, since it was already 4 days, I checked the status of the TNT courier number that they provided. It says that the tracking number is invalid. At first I thought that may be tracking does not work for surface shipping, but then thought it best to contact Infibeam.

So today I called them up to confirm today morning. The CC lady who I talked to told me that she would get the info and call me back in a while, When I didn't get a call, I called up again in the afternoon. She tells me that the order was not shipped (something to the affect that it is with the courier, but kept on hold for the balance payment to arrive). I had already sent a copy of the transaction details and the payment should have reflected in their account by 2nd (which is Saturday). So they didn't bother confirming the shipping on Saturday nor on Monday. I believe they only bothered to tell me that today because I called them up, otherwise it would have been in the same state till the time I called them. All she had to tell me was that she was extremely sorry for my inconvenience and she tells me they would confirm with TNT and get it shipped today.

So essentially I think they made me believe that the order was shipped out so I don't have a chance to cancel the order. I have lost so much faith in them because of the way they are doing things that even now, I am not sure if the order is really going to be shipped today at least. I for one would never be dealing with them again. I would rather pay more and buy from ebay or some other place.

i was just going to buy speakers from them today.

Will hold back for the time being. Do update on the progress.

For me Infibeam CC was good. They told me all the details in extreme clarity. It was letsbuy who kept me jumping like a monkey for 2 weeks.

^^ The CC reps are responsive, but the thing is that the they don't have access to the information that people need. If they have to ask me to hold for every damn thing so they can consult with their colleagues/top brass or I have to ask for for someone else to come on the line, then they have already failed as a CC unit of such an organization. In any case, I just had a chat with them again and I was assured that my order would be shipping out today. The confusion according to them was because of the extra payment. I had to send a copy of the payment details again for them to confirm receipt. Yes there was at least one individual who seemed to be dedicated to ensuring that things get done, but the individual groups themselves are in no way coordinating to get things done.

which makes me wonder, which site to rely on ? when the going is good, its good for all, but the moment you run into problem, order something that they usually dont have in stock, you are in trouble

And when it comes to bad service, tradus.in seems to trump all the sites out because they dont even have a phone number to reach them. Mail them, they will get back to you in a week.

@lord nemesis, i bought couple of books from them, they were fast and good but i never spoke with their CC. bad luck i must say :(

@ Lord nemesis--- Plz email the guy I pmed u with all the details. Make sure even if u get the item or refund that they give you a gift voucher for all your agony :)

In my case as well they have very poor service. I ordered a book from them and they gave me a call to confirm the order. I confirmed the order and its been like 1 month and I have not received the book.

I had just one experience with Infi. Ordered a Belkin 4 port hub on COD. Took time but I wasn't worried as my money was with me. Eventually was delivered, my cousin in same City had also ordered the same product on same day but his delivery was a couple of days late.

Guess COD is the best option with these Online shops. Tribune carried an article on Online Shopping perils a few days back. Was a total eye-opener. Blame it on the lax laws our Country has on Online shops & frauds committed by them.

I think we should have a Online shopping grivience section on the forum(sticky) which would serve as a reference to consumers wanting to do business with them. Only -ve feedbacks & bad experiences. Im dead sure it would be noticed by these shops very soon & they will improve on thier service.

As for me, I've had bad experiences with Tradus, Yebhi, ebay.

You happen to have all the secret email id's of all the companies. :) Do you happen to have one for BSNl and Yebhi.

Hey, thanks for the info and the email id. I don't really want a freebie from them to compensate for my inconvenience. All I want is that they take their business more seriously in future and if not, for their potential customers to be aware of the issues. As I said, there was at least one guy among the lot who is actually serious about the reputation of their company (may be a stakeholder). This was also the only guy who had made followup calls as promised after I started interacting. He has apologized for the way things panned out and has personally given his assurance that the order would be shipped out today and he would also follow up with the courier to ensure that it reaches fast. So, for the time being I will see how it goes.

I am never unreasonable in my expectations from dealers. I gave them all the time they wanted according to their own set time lines, but not bothering to updating the customer (me) about the unavailability of stock and EOL status till its too late is what ticked me off in the first place. I have already questioned their negligence and it is for them to whether they realize and take steps to ensure that it doesn't happen in the future.

Damn! Had I seen this thread before, I wouldn't have ordered my speakers through them. CC is feeding me same crap line - "Your order will be definitely shipped tomorrow!" since past 4 days. I cant believe I let myself be trapped like this. Should have checked TE for general feedback before ordering :-(

I ordered a book (The Art of Star Wars - The Force Unleashed) through them that was stated to be "new". It took more than a month to arrive and was NOT in new condition by any stretch of imagination.

I immediately sent them screenshots showing them the pathetic condition of the book. Nothing. No response or reply. Thats the last time I ordered through them....

you know ,i understand the agony which goes through when you dont get a product, but that is the problem of online shopping.....not even amazon is free from it, to save yourself just go buy it in a nearby shop.... simples

same happened with me as they make me wait for my stuff for many days that they will ship tomorrow but later they cancelled it as its not in stock.

That is not a problem with online shopping. That is a problem with unprofessional shops.

Yeah, even found it to be very unreliable. I had ordered a book recently which took close to 2 weeks to arrive. It looked like it was a used book with lots of dirt and soiled marks on the cover page.

that is new from infibeam. They used to be good when I tried last time (or perhaps I never had out of stock issue). This behavior though is totally unacceptable. Keeping customers ind ark is not done. They better improve it (or else we have n option to shop).

BTW did you take discount using magic box?

every shop has a complaint against it , would you say all shops are bad or that the problem lies with the online 'ness of it?

@kippu

While its true that using various online stores on a regular basis may result in a couple of bad experiences, its also true that online sites that move quickly to address genuine customer grievances will find customers return to them despite past issues. I have had problems with Amazon and Flipkart in the past but they have resolved them every single time to my COMPLETE satisfaction. Thats why I keep returning to them - I trust them.

Infibeam on the other hand did not respond despite several emails with photos showing them the sorry state of the obviously second hand book they sold me as "new". They probably realized they were at fault the moment they packed the book for shipping as theres no way they could not have known how badly damaged it was.
