Mine's silver. You're right about the black ones. The paint job is bad. Looks like they've just painted over the silver ones. I don't even like the look.

Is the "ENTER" casing good? I want one for my old 20GB HDD. My friend went to Nehru Place and he found mostly "ENTER" drives for around Rs. 450

yeah black are very bad and looks just painted.. mine is smoodh silver case...
wat are ur benchies? i shal bench it tonight

I haven't done benchie on my laptop HDD as yet. It's just crammed with stuff. Will try it after I move some stuff onto another HDD.
montylee, I like my silver casing. Mine costed Rs 450/- also. It's sturdy, flush with the 2.5 HDD and comes with a fake/real leather pouch and a driver cd.

The transcend cases look cool with their red/blue and silver casings. But they cost Rs 999/-.

Ok I did an HDD benchmark of my rig. i.e 2 WD 10K r.p.m. Raptors in Raid 0 with a stripe size of 64K.

Got 148 Mbps bandwidth score in SiSoft Sandra 2007 SP1. (These Raptors are the hard to find 16mb cache ones<WD740ADFD>. I had gotten used to the noisy seeks and they are much quieter in RAID as they are sharing the load. So seeks are much less noisier. I'm very finicky about noise. Have sensitive ears.)

Well. Turns out the 3.5 inch Vantec casing that Computer shop has supports USB 2.0 only. Sabir said he would get back to me on whether a fw cum USB one can be procured. I don't feel confident though. Damn...I was so happy when he mentioned triple interface. But when I checked it out...surprise surprise.

Anyways, I'm not spending 2.2K on a casing that supports only USB 2.0. Really find it hard to see the value. Got me self a Hitachi 320gb PATA for 4,875/- all inclusive. Was impressed by the drives' looks. Am using it now and getting an amazing b/w of 71 Mbps....Holy Cow!!!. And it's PATA. Man that is fast. Probably cuz it's not yet 5% full but I'm not worried.

Actually the Vantec I'm talking about is a 3.5 inch PATA to USB 2.0 only. It is too much for this price. I mean a diff of 1600 bucks as compared to an ordinary USB 2.0 casing.
Well, I desperately wanted to get a firewire casing. Am itching to use the fw ports on my system. But I'll definitely ask about the zippy. Seems like good value for money.

The ENTER 2.5" casing comes for Rs.150 in Nehru Place. I bought a chinese SONY :ohyeah: 2.5" casing for Rs. 250

Transcend 2.5" is for 750/-

Benchmark HDTach

Random Access : 18.4ms

Average Read : 27 MB/s

shakensoul, looks like you got a good deal. The SONY brand on a Rs 250/- case sounds decent even though it's chinese ;)

holy crap...150 bucks for the enter casing??? I was conned.

Jusy bought the zippy 3.5 " hdd enclosure today, and for the Rs 450 price it is simply awesome. The bright blue activity led on the casing looks spectacular. :P
