oh you do not have to convince me about this, i was against it after some good people opened my eyes about it on IBF back in 2010.

Yeah i was against it too. They also tried to make it mandatory for the lpg subsidies here in my city and people were really unhappy. Someone had filed a PIL too.
Atleast now they have removed that mandate, mostly due to nearing elections.

I would really like to see reservaton based on financial status. I wish some one would take up that as a agenda, but anyone who would do that is bound to lose.

How big a vote bank do you think 'financial status' makes up. It has to be very large and a lot simpler than catering to different groups around the country. This is the norm in the developed countries.

Thing is this assumes a more or less level playing field amongst groups. We're not there yet. Your idea is too early for its time.
