Hi Guys,

I need to buy a printer for myself. I don't exacltly require a colour, so any monochrome printer will do...
My print requirement isn't very great...about 30-50 prints monthly...

If I don't mind spending extra 3k(the premium of laser to inkjet)...should I get laser printer instead then...mainly for the quality of the prints and convinience that laser printer refill last longer?
Any disadvantages of laser if to be used sparingly?

For 30-50 prints monthly I would advise you to go with Inkjet Printer. New cartridges (color+ black) will cost you 1500/- for both. It's riffling cost will not go more than Rs.240/- for both cartridges. If you do not want color cartridge, you may put only One Black cartridge in printer (check with others)

Toner cost more in all aspects for refilling you may requires Rs.350/- approx & do not forget to considered New Toner price 2.5k approx (hp)

Till today I hear that toner requires for large print out works.
 
Hmm...Yes i agree inkjet is advisable but with laser printer becoming so cheap nowdays, it definately deserves a second look...primarily becuase of higher no. of pages per cartridge(toner) vs inkjet and also higher quality...

Very well guys, I've decided go for Xerox Xerox Phaser 3117 ... Its available for around Rs.4400. Specs do look good with yeild of 3000 pages per toner refill, any other model's in budget range worth looking?
 
First of all 1 cartridge of inkjet will give you about 300 pages. 1 cartridge (toner) of laser will give you about 3000 pages. So cost per page is Rs.3-5 in inkjet while Rs.0.5-1 in laser.

Second if your requirement is on and off like 30 pages on a day and then no printouts in next 20 days then you are better off with laser. Its because inkjet wastes lots of ink on its head which gets dried up if not regularly used.

Third as you said print quality of laser is far superior.
 
^^Yes that's what tempting me to get a laser...

BTW which is Good Budget Laser, the Xerox one i mentioned (Phaser 3117) seems to have paper jam issues as reported by some people on the net...

Which Brands to choose, I have Samsung (ML1610 or 2010), Canon (LBP2900) or HP (1007 or 1008). HP is the most expensive while Samsung is the cheapest. Anybody got any freedback on above models?
 
Any idea, how many pages 1007's initial toner cartridge prints ?
I've read at someplaces the toner initially supplied is smaller and can print very few no of pages, you need to purchase larger toner lateron at exhorbitant prices later...For eg the toner supplied with Phaser 3117 can print only 500 pages and seprate toner which prints 3k pages is for 4.5k...is this true?
 
^^ Its true that the initial toner supplied with the printer is smaller capacity one and it prints 1000+ pages as per the statement of the seller.
