You thought wrong! ;)

7 would install the chipset drivers, audio chipset drivers, video drivers, ethernet controller drivers by itself once the installation completes. You do not need to install these. Ofc it definitely helps to upgrade to the newer drivers which would fix some minor niggles which might crop up later.

You are ready to suffer the pain of upgrading your o/s to win 7. Then why are reluctant to install drivers for the same ?. As pointed out by the members, you dont even need to do that, but if you do that your pc performance will be good...

I installed it last night but i installed on same drive which has XP so it renamed the Windows to .old so I'm going to do a format and do a clean install again.

How does Win 7 picks up drivers ?

OT - How can i burn ISO as well some other files on DVD , iso should be bootable

You don't even need to waste a DVD for that. Simply copy all the files inside .iso into a bootable USB drive. Better still, download WintoFlash from here, and copy the files from the folder. Works flawlessly. Been doing that for sometime now. Installation happens faster as well.

Ensure that you set the options in the BIOS accordingly. i.e. the primary bootable drive being USB.

^Installing off a pen drive takes me less than 10 minutes. This could be attributed to the SSD I have on the system. On a hard drive it shouldn't be taking more than 15 minutes IIRC.

Ok done with the install , anyone knows how does win 7 takes up the drivers ?
I couldn't comprehend what that means! :S

You have completed the installation and you are asking how Win 7 installs those drivers automatically?

Yes since logically every hardware needs software to interact with it , which acts as interface.

Also Is there a Event ID 4226 Patch which increases the speed to max ?

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Not getting max speed in torrents and http

Question is how does Win 7 knows about the drivers ?

And whats the way to get max speed in Win 7

Every version of windows comes with the required drivers, when you install windows xp, you will see a screen where various drivers are loaded, these are loaded for the system to work and to install the OS properly.
Similarly windows 7 also comes with a set of drivers of almost all the popular hardware till its date of release. It detects the hardware and installs all the required hardware.

But IMO install the drivers that came with your system or with your motherboard, as these drivers are generally updated versions.

When an OS is coded they add all the popular drivers of the popular hardware, like they add the nvidia drivers which will work for almost all the Nvidia gfx card, but to get the maximum out of your hardware, one must install the latest. Same is the case with the intel chipsets driver, audio driver, ati driver and so on.

I'm actually referring to Win XO Event ID Patch 4226 which increases the global connections to 50 from 10, is there something on Win 7 too.

Any tips on faster shutdown , startup ?

Windows 7 doesn't have the half-open connection limit like XP does. Although you'll have to take off the Multimedia Scheduler Service's Network Throttling Index if you lag in online games ( spikes and stuff ).

Also, for shutdown and startup, you can just use msconfig like in XP to reduce startup processes. And you can use Registry Mechanic to monitor startup/shutdown times.
