CPU/Mobo intel 945G supports intel 6xx series?!

Hi all,

Just wanted to share this with u all...i guess many of u already know it :p , but for others who didnt know about this :

"intel 945G chipset supports socket 775 series CPU's with EM64T (The 6xx series in particular)....so now even intel has an upgrade path for dual cores since AMD was ready for them with their existing socket 939 boards"

i wanted to tell this since most people think that the 945 series is meant only for the dual cores...i have seen this in some other forums too where buyers had such a confusion.....for those die-hard intel fans...u can buy an intel based system with a 6xx CPU now and then upgrade to dual cores later....
 
915, 925, 945, 955 can all use 6xx series procs.

only the 945 and 955 can use P-D's and AFAIK only the 955 can use the P-EE (dual core extreme edition with 4 threads available)
 
I've seen some vendors on Laminton Road sellin Intel Pentium D 820 2.8ghz with Intel 945G chopset based mobo and 512mb ddr2 533 mhz for 22k.

Cmon for Dual cores its not that much expensive.

If this could fall down to less than twenty thousand bucks by next month i guess many i'll go for it. What say ?
 
imho dual core isnt worth it. There is almost no support for them....a single core 6xx or A64 would be much better in games and most applucations
 
Exactly. Intel dual cores are nothing more than a joke right now. The Prescotts are way past their lifetime and need to be laid to rest. Even at those prices, they just arent worth it.
Unfortunately Intel as always will fool the gullible customer into believing dual core is something *new*.
