Despite the fact that benchmarks showed a mixed bag in terms of performance, coming up with a conclusion for the Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 turned out to be surprisingly simple. It is the most user friendly and feature packed (and I mean functional features) motherboard I have come across to date that will appeal to the gamer or overclocker and even the criticising hardware connoisseur. It may not be as quick as the 975 based offerings in 2D arithmetic intensive applications, but the difference on the desktop is defintely less tangible than when you are running around in Oblivion.

I hope the Gigabyte is priced well in India..

That will become a VFM Conroe solution, offering overclockability as well..

Today I found that even ECS 945GM-3 based on Intel 945G Express Chipset is showing decent performance as against Intel SLi boards and 965G and 975G Express Chipsets. You can read more at:

It should be around Rs. 5500/- in India and can be considered as an Ideal VFM Motherboard.
 
Nopes... 945 chipset based mobos won't work with conroe. On top of that, the ECS board is microatx. Who'd be braindead enuf to buy a microatx mobo :P.
 
@ Adi, dont think about Gigabyte,sit tight and either go for Asus or DFI or Abit.

975 or 965 is your call.

I saw the review,the board sure looks sweet but i doubt its OC potential keeping in mind Gigabyte's past record.

You can also look into Epox upcoming boards.

Epox is also a very good brand with excellent OCability but unfortunately they have remained in the shadows for a long long time,dunno why.
 
It was just a comparison of 965 vs. 975 :P.

Im not looking at anything past the 975 Chipset Motherboards.
 
Generally Intel Chipsets are best for a Intel platform.Anyways once everything is out,it will be clear what chipset is doing what ?

975 performance and OCability is proven,965 looks promising.Nforce SLI,needs to be seen cos the earlier one wasnt that great.ATI is an entirely different ball game.But i can say from my current experience that it is sure gonna be a good chipset.
