CPU/Mobo Intel D945GCLF or Gigabyte GA-GC230D

Hi friends,

I want to buy an Atom board for downloading and file server machine which will be on for 24/7. I am confused between 2 boards which one is better with lesser bugs/problems.

1. Intel D945GCLF

2. Gigabyte GA-GC230D

3. Any other board you think is better than these 2.

Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF - Overview

GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview - GA-GC230D (rev. 1.0)

One shopkeeper told me that Intel has too much problem, better buy Gigabyte while other shopkeeper told me that Intel is the best board, do not buy Gigabyte.

If you ask me, my heart says to go with Gigabyte.

Please put your important feedback and views on these boards.

Thanks in advance.

Brought Gigabyte GA-GC230D and added Kingstron 667mHz 1 Gb RAM, desktop 80 GB Samsung hdd, and ran with generic power supply. Total power consumption is coming at 40 to 41 watts.

I have a AMD system with AMD 4400+Jetway M28GT3-SDG+Kingston 1 GB 667 ram, desktop 160 GB Samsung hdd and running with with I-ball 400 watts generic power supply. Total power consumption is coming between 56 to 60 watts.

Looking at the power consumption and features offered by Intel, I think, if we are not looking at the size of motherboard, AMD system with Sampron will be very good with so many features.

For downloading purposes only, intel atom is the way to go.
Regarding intel or gigabyte, well, just listen to your heart.:)
