^^yeah, but anyone knows how much does it costs to intel and amd to make one chip-that's around 20rs.i know it would have costed them heavily while reaserching but:(

^^ Any source for that figure?

Some basic accounts and math for you:

INTC reported a gross margin of 53% this quarter. Gross margin is nothing but (revenues-cost of production)/revenues. So simply put a processor costing 100 USD takes 47 USD to manufacture. 20 INR is a lil too optimistic.

^AFAIK - no change in Q9550 etc. neither in the i7 department. Instead they have launched the new i7-950 and i7-975 Extreme to replace the 940 and 965 respectively.

@Karthi007 AMD is already priced its products aggressively. Intel has reduced the prices owing to their plans to phase out these products. (Reckon that they’ve announced Core i3,i5 & i9?).

Good news for neone buying now! I was afraid the i7 would be in there somewhere; just bought one myself! :D

Honestly, I am little disappointed. I still wait for Q9550 to come down... and it will come down when Lynfields appear in September.
