CPU/Mobo Intel Express Chipset family; which to buy in 945 series?

I'm confused which motherboard of Express Chipset family to buy. There are in total 8 and I'm listing 2.. Help me in detail with price..

945G Express
Embedded - Yes
System TDP - 109.5W

945P Express
Embedded No
TDP- 102.5W

I don't get the terms.. How to buy, which to buy?
 
Well, unless you are on a budget, upgrade to either AMD AM3 platform or go with Intel SNB. AMD will cost you 6K for cpu+mobo+ram, Intel will cost you 7.5K for the same.

Yeah I can't buy right now. I just want to upgrade a bit.. It'll be just fine for me and Vivek, I asked you via pm about any other place to buy hardware than Variety since you live in Ghatkopar..
 
Well, first, I did not recieve any PM. Secondly regarding the 945, go with 945G, believe it has IGP while 945P does not have it. If you can post the links and you specs, can be of more help.

If you want to get the item cheap, there is no other place than LR. You will have full control over your purchase compared to branded stuff, or buy from your engineer, but then he also has to get his cut too.

No idea on Variety, as I buy my comp stuff from LR only. I only buy CD/DVD from the Variety stationary shop as they are cheapest in Ghatkopar. In East, from Jolly, a Moser baer DVD costs 20 bucks! which is 13 in variety!

Introduction :
I went to lamington road today was so suprised that every 2nd person has a different opinion. I'm tired of thinking xS

I have a P4 3.06 Ghz 524 533Mhz cpu and wanted to buy a mobo. Someone suggested me Intel Gigabyte G41 M Combo and I quickly checked out Gigabyte's website and it did not show my Processor in compatible cpu list. I thought of G31 which is compatible in Gigabyte's website.
Now G31 is outdated with DDR2 2GB and total ram and mobo costs me 3700. And G41 with DDR3 4GB total costs me 4100.

The main issue :
Half of the shops told me that G41 is very much compatible and that they will check it in front of me while buying. They were very confident.

Others told that its not at all possible that G41 works with P4. Some even said that G31 is also not compatible.

Finally :
What should I do? Can it be like G41 works in the shop and within few days it stops working?
Or should I not risk it and buy G31 and satisfy myself with 2gb ddr2 ?

I can't buy new system for 6 months !

lammy can confuse even a seasoned guy.... and u seem to be a novice. Moral of the story... do your homework (R&D on google sufficiently enough), b4 u venture in the deep sea

what all components do you currently have and what is the max budget for the new mobo? you can get suggestions based on that.

are you fine with a 2nd hand mobo?

getting a new system will be very much better choice than upgrading just the mobo because you will get much better value for money on a new system which will easily last for 2-3 years.. All you need is CPU, RAM, Mobo. Everything else from the old system can be reused. It will be better if you can change the cabinet+power supply too.

get an 785/880 chipset mobo + athlon 250 for around 6k ... u can get these for 5k within warranty here in market section and give rest to an old man P4

Start WTB thread in market section for compatible socket 775 MB in the price range of 700-1000 shipped.

as OP is willing to spend 4.1k for G41 mobo so its a better choice to go for new architecture

anyway Virus advice is a quick fix for your problem

OP: Your proccy is the older Prescott generation chip, and neither G31 or G41 mobos will work. There were LGA 775 pin, and Socket 478 if I am not mistaken for Prescott. I dont think mobos for those will be available anymore.

You will require DDR1 RAM, which again will be very expensive. Best bet is to find a second hand mobo+ RAM, or upgrade your platform

Much better and secure option. (peace of mind about components for another 3 yrs if you are lucky!) :)
