The only thing that's worrisome is the fact that only the k series can be oc'd, and fsb based oc'ing is dead for all purposes considering 3 mhz was the limit these guys could overclock... I just hope that intel doesn't price the k series counterparts too costly as compared to the mainstream versions:no::no:... What will happen to us budget overclockers then???? Fingers crossed ....
Wouldn't call myself an Intel fanboy but for the last maybe 3 to 4 years AMD's proccy's have been disappointing... AMD maybe able to provide better clock speeds/more cores at the same price point but if we look at one specific price point (I am not talking about budget Athlon's here) the Intel's beat AMD... eg: 1090T vs i7 920/i7 860, 1055T vs i7 750... I maybe wrong here as my knowledge is limited to reviews read at various websites...DarkAngel said:amd ?

I intend to build a i7 920 equivalent rig next year so frankly speaking I have my hopes pinned on either having sane prices for the K series or Bulldozer being as good as AMD says it is... But then AMD has this nasty habit of not really living up to the hype it creates and Intel has this habit of delivering Proccy's that on base Clock look tiny but OC like crazy (eg: i3 540)....
Anyways lets see what lies ahead and hope for the best because at the end it is us who stand to benefit...
Yeah and as DarkAngel has pointed out AMD Blacks are not too expensive and they have decent margin to overclock with a decent aftermarket solution ( My 965 B.E + Hyper 212+ has done a max of 3.8 GHz with no great change in tempratures )ALPHA17 said:Who says AMD does not deliver the DirectX 11 revolution was spearheaded by them had cards on the market 1 year before Nvidia, plus the Hypertransport Interface ( HT ) used by AMD since 2001 is the basis for Intel's supposedly groundbreaking Quickpath Interface ( QPI )

and for comparison the Intel i7 920( superseded by the 930 ) is EoL, so is the i5 750 ( 760 ) ~ sheer value for money is still AMD's forte you cannot put an i7 on a sub-10K board ( MSI X58 E PRO ~ 11K ) while you can build a decent multithreading system for 30K AMD Phenom II 1055T + compatible 785G based board![]()

Yeah it was 2001 and AMD was on a rampage, the Athlon series skewered the Intel Pentium 4 and D's ( Netburst ), plus where do you see the so called advantages of using Intel, you should factor the usages too, what do you mean el cheapo cards bro I don't think a Nvidia GT 220 will qualify as a decent gaming setup okay for HTPC,St.John said:"Who says AMD does not deliver the DirectX 11 revolution was spearheaded by them had cards on the market 1 year before Nvidia, plus the Hypertransport Interface ( HT ) used by AMD since 2001 is the basis for Intel's supposedly groundbreaking Quickpath Interface ( QPI )"
Agreed... But that was 2001 and we are discussing Proccy's here... i7 920/930 might be EOL but they do pack enough punch to go loggerheads with the current highest end Phenom Hexa's... And lets not even compare Intel Hexa's with AMD Hexa's... Also AMD is counting upon the Bulldozer architecture which actually pits 2 AMD cores to 1 Intel Core (module vs Core)... Sheer VFM, that argument stands too well for low end Core i3 vs Athlon market but mainstream vfm we really wouldn't want to pitch a 1055T up against i5 760...
Intel Mobo's are costlier but the 30 K price point, well i5 750 + H55/P55 + 4 gb ddr3 + 400 Watt PSU + el cheapo card + 20 " LCD vs 1055 T + AM3+ + 4 GB DDR3 + 400 Watts PSU + 20 " LCD I believe the price difference will not be more that 2~3 grands (correct me if I am wrong)...

Decent yes, but needless to say is the i5 760 a bad overclocker ??
"and for comparison the Intel i7 920( superseded by the 930 ) is EoL"
The EOL argument, stands well when the newer ups the ante over the current set.. In the case of Sandybridge vs Nehalem architecture there are lithography changes from 45nm to 32 nm, better power management but in sheer performance Sandybridge offers about 6~8% more performance... Now that doesn't make the current i5/i7 out of date as yet. Does it??
