Intel Viiv Announced
(Source : http://www.i4u.com/article4074.html)

At the Intel Developer Conference, Intel announces Intel Viiv.

Intel Viiv (pronounced "vīv" and rhymes with "five") technology is Intel's new platform for digital home products.
Intel also integrated consumer electronic features into the Intel Viiv technology platform to make it easier to use and contribute to the overall entertainment experience. All PCs based on Intel Viiv technology will ship with a remote control, the Microsoft Windows* Media Center Edition operating system and media software that lets consumers interact with their PC in the same way they operate a TV.
Intel Viiv technology also includes an integrated media server "engine" that can reformat various digital content files so they can be viewed on a selection of devices verified by Intel to work with Intel Viiv technology-based systems.
Intel Viiv technology-based entertainment PCs are expected to be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2006 and will come in various shapes and sizes to fit different styles and sizes of homes.
More details in this Intel press-release .

How many times has this been said before, a "lifestyle" PC ...

Fool the consumer into crap cause they can't deliver the f**king performance.

I bet this will be infested with DRM severely curtailing your abilities with what you can do with "your" media.

Another analogy is that Intel VIIV also means 64 in Roman Numerals. Not exactly, but if you break it up into VI & IV then you get 64. ;)

Yeah right, whatever coundn't they just name it Pentium64 or somethin ?

This is what annoys me about Intel, too much crap talking, new technologies, NO performance that reaches people like you and me...
