I have heard we can OC Core i3 SNB 4 bins something. Which motherboard will be required ?

Do gimme a required parts config based on SNB Core i3.

Yes, its called Turbo Boost 2.0 Also best is to leave at default as the inbuilt scheduler in the CPU determines if you are running a single threaded app or multi threaded app and boosts the frequency for either a single core or for all cores. If you keep it at +4bins, it would mean that the proccy would always be running in that state which, IMO, is a waste of power.

BTW, if i remember, its not supported in i3. But will check and get back.

Please help in finalizing parts with cheapest possible parts from OL stores.

Proccy: Intel Core i3-2100 (In USA it costs $115. Is it worth from getting there ? as here it have sky-rocketed to 6500+)
Mobo: Suggest
GPU: Suggest
SMPS: Seasonic S12D 620W
For cabinet which one to buy: NZXT Gamma or Thermaltake Commander MS-1
SSD: suugest

Total budget for these things is 29K
AMD Phenom II X4 965 @6330 available on Flipkart. How much VFM it is ?

^^ Core i3 2100 ~ 6200/-

ASUS P8Z68-M PRO ~ 10000/- [I'm not sure of this price, try to find out]

Corsair XMS3 OR G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x 1 ~ 1650/-

AMD HD 6950 2GB ~ 16900/- [if your budget does not allow OR you want to purchase a HD 7*** series card get this card instead -- AMD HD 6670 ~ 5400/-]

Seasonic S12D 620W ~ 4600/-

NZXT Gamma ~ 2300/-

SSD will go out of your budget, but if you want one get a Corsair Force3 120GB drive ~ 12000/- [As Corsair has a good A.S.S. network in India compared to OCZ]

An AMD set-up means you'll forfeit the Intel set-up which can be upgraded to the Ivy-Bridge processor as well as the Phenom IIx4 line-up is now EoL, performance is not as good as the current Core i3 line -- AnandTech - Bench - CPU.

Hope this helps.

It does help buddy.

I dunn need RAMs as i have Corsair XMS3 2*2GB 1600MHz.

If I am buying i3-2100 i will NOT be upgrading to IVB. Hence i guess i can use Intel H67 mobo for 5.3K.

Right now prices are way high, i3-2100 + H67 combo costs ~12K. I will better wait to get this combo.

I will prefer to wait to get this combo, when it costs ~10.5k

High prices are disturbing my budget :(

^^ Sire, prices are not in your control so if you want to get a RIG, no day like today. New releases and prices will continuously place you in doubt happened to me but needed it bad enough that I had to forfeit an Intel i5 7** RIG in favor of AMD Phenom IIx4 RIG, no regrets.

But if you really are patient, wait till mid-January. Cheers!!

Getting the proccy from the US is good only if you have someone getting it for you. As for the mobo, get it from here, usually these are the first to have issues.

As for making the XMS3 to run at 1600MHz, goto the BIOS settings and change the memory timings to reflect the 1600MHz frequency.

Yeah my friends are returning from US on 22nd Jan. Let see how it shapes.
I have got iPod from there before without any custom duty, hoping same for proccy.
Also in US they charge $25 on gadgets. Is it same with Proccy ?

Also IVB have been delayed to May, 2012. May be prices of SNB get little down.
Expecting same with GPUs.

Cheers..!!

I think you mean local sales tax, and some of the states have it. but nowhere near 25USD.

Also if possible, try to get a i3 2105 instead of the i3 2100. the HD3000 IGP means that even later if you wish to sell it, you should be able to get a small premium.

Not sure which kinda tax it is but i got 2 iPod Touches with same tax.

Ohk i will try for i3-2105.

To accomadate i3 combo in 10K mark i had a look at H61 chipset. I m preety satisfied with it. I m fine with 2 RAM slots. Little bit not comfortable with mATX form factor. I am also not going to do any multi-GPU setup. Only thing i m going to loose as compared to H67 is, i guess ability of RAMs to run @1600MHz. Do correct me here in needed. What else is major difference between H61 and H67 ?

Cheapest i3-2100 i could find is @ 6200 @ Hardwire.in, comparted to ~6050 from US. I can go with it.

Do suggest me a decent H61 mobo around 3.5/3.6K. I m from Mumbai and not sure how much service of Rashi and hence Asus mobo have improved. Kindly suggest a mobo accordingly.

For PSU what is difference between Seasonic 620W and Corsair GS600. I guess both are at 4.5K around. Which is better ?

For now confirmed parts are

i3-2100 = 6200

NZXT Gamma = 2300

I would still say wait for Ivy Bridge. By then HD7950 will be readily available, and probably cheaper too than launch price.

Bought i3-2100 @ Rs.5800 :eek:hyeah:  from EBay after applying 10% discount coupon for Maestro Card.

Suggest Mobo as soon as possible. If required Mobo budget can be extended till 4500 because after applying coupon it will be 4K around.

Add 1k more and get Intel DH67BL B3-5.6k,if you can't stretch then get GIGABYTE GA-H61M-D2-B3-3.6k or intel H61 mobo.

No good mobos listed on EBay.
Hence 10% thing will not applicable. :(
How is MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) ~4560 @Flipkart ?

Fixed Parts

Intel Core i3-2100 - ordered for 5800 from EBay.

NZXT Gamma - 2300

SMPS - Seasonic 620W - How much does it exactly costs ?

Needed

Motherboard : Decent H61/67 Mobo within 4.5-5K with sized 9.6" x 9.6"

I liked Intel DH67BL but its out of budget @5.6K.

@Mods: Please update thread title as "Upgrade: Intel Core i3 based"
