Hi,

I have some doubt regarding Internal TV Tuner Card. I am purchasing one from my friend.

The config of my PC is. PIII 1Ghz, 64SD RAM . I wanted to make sure that
Internal TV Tuner Card will work properly on my PC without any glitches. I also want to record with its help..!!

I am not sure abt the model..but is of Proview....

Because somewhere i heard that Internal TV Tuner Card Need min of 128 SD RAM to work. Is it so ?

So any ideas , suggestions..??

BTW do anybody have idea abt this Proview TV Tuner Card. I mean its performance and all...
Regards,
Dipen

The TV Card shud work but the problem could arise at the time of realtime recording in mpeg2/dvd pal formats..the best possible way out is to try low(est)-fi recording quality (though not sure tht will work or not..)or the more expensive way out is to get a memory upgrade ;)

Atleast there won't be any problem viewing ?? rite..!!!

Pls correct me if someone hav idea abt min specs..for Internal TV Tuner...

Coz i wanna make sure these things b4 purchasing...!!

Anyways... Thanx..

Regards,
Dipen

viewing may be the problem thats ok.

but your system may be slower while you are watching tv as it will take resources.

with 64 mb i think you will have to forget about recording even with low quality as it will create jitters.

you should get more memory if you want smooth performaance.

I have a ADcom TV tuner card which i brought like 3 yrs back when i had windows 2000. I have XP now and couldnt use the card at all as the application crashes when i try to switch to TV mode. My card driver are properly installed and its detected by XP without any issues.
Anyone aware where i can get hold of a application which works on XP?

hey...

BTW any way by which i can record the recordings directly...in Divx Format... I know my RAM is too less for recordin..still was anxious...

I hope atleast Viewin is absouletely fine on this RAM...Still any suggestions on improving it without upgrading RAM..

It depends on the TV APP...and your card quality...though in most cases you cannot record in DivX format directly from your TV card.

And yeah, be prepared for ram upgrade as it is inadequate for viewing also. Also which OS are you using now?

I have a compro videomate TV FM card and the system requirements for it are as follows..

(from the compro website):

Minimum Product Requirements

* 400 MHz CPU for TV viewing

866 NHz CPU for recording and timeshifting

1.7 GHz CPU for DVD-quality recording

* 96 MB memory for Windows Me or 98SE

* 128 MB for Windows XP or 2000

* 10 MB free disk space, plus approximately 2.5 GBytes per hour of video recorded at S-Video quality

* Sound card with Line-In connector

* Open PCI slot

* CD-ROM drive for software installation

So, even the requirements for your card shud be more or less the same..

Dipen,

I have the COmpro VideoMate Gold 2 plus tv tuner but had a sad sys...p3 866mhz with 128mb.......
I cant record anything above 384x288 res in any format....mpg/mpg2/divx/xvid as many frames get skipped in the recorded video.
I can get the best rec. at 384x288 res in mpg1 format.

So i'd suggest u to add atleast 128mb of mem before u buy the tv tuner. Also u'll be limited to just mpg1 recording.

yes..guys... I know i will be needing RAM..but the problem i am facing..is...this SD RAM is way too costly... i just enquired yesterday..and for 128 MB the cost is 1300/- and for 256 its 2100/-...

So i am hesitating to purchase it rite now..!!
