PC Peripherals International Warranties

Hello all,

Just a quick question...can you guys please tell me which all companies provide international warranty on their products??

A few products that I really would like to know about are given below:

Samsung LCD Monitors
CoolerMaster Power Supplies
Corsair/Kingston Ram
Graphics Cards (any)

(I believe all these products are available locally too)
been reading http://www.techenclave.com/forums/computer-stuff-from-us-93190.html

and I too have someone coming back from the states in the beginning of October. The reason why I ask about warranties is because Iv'e had a bad experience with everything that i have bought till now (except for a soundcard bought abroad) And as you guys know..it's much cheaper to buy some of this stuff abroad as they have killer Deals :eek:hyeah:

Thanks..

AFAIK, some laptop manufacturers provide International warranties simply because a lappy is designed for such a purpose, i.e. moving in and out of countries.

It doesnt make sense for any PC peripheral manufacturer to provide international warranty.....

Maybe a few do and someone can shed more light on this...

Actually none of them provide international warranty.

In India RMA process is handled by distributors and not by manufacturers directly. And they will not accept anything thats purchased out of India.

My friend did have luck with RMA of his Hitachi Laptop HDD which Hitachi accepted without making any fuzz.

Oye Funky, arent Seagate and Samsung stuff handled by the Manufacturer itself? So are there some HDD's with International warranty? HDD's in the US are so much cheaper....

Regarding parts, none of the companies provide it. Even if they say so, I dont think the service centers will honor it here in India.

Only instance I know about is, AMD were ready to replace my dead procy if I provided proof of purchase ( that was in 2004). Not sure if they do it any longer.

I dont know to be honest.
I took a chance and give the hitachi to my dealer who said he will try his best. He submitted it for RMA and it got replaced with brand new one in matter of 4 days. :)

I think most of the Seagate HDD's sold here are from Malaysia/Singapore..and no dealer seems to "cover the warranty"..you need to take it to the Seagate Service Centre..they do replace it though..

I read on another Indian "Tech Site" that XFX provides international warranties. Anyone else know about this?

My main priority is to find out the warranty on this Samsung monitor as it costs about $700 and I aint reeeeech!!!:p

XFX is distributed by Rashi Peripherals in India, so I really doubt that International warranty claim, these guys can hardly handle their own products warranties...lol...

Getting a monitor from the US, thats not advised....customs maynot let it pass through....

@Funky, thanks m8, guess I'll stick to the Indian maal then///

xfx has lifetime warranty in US. Not sure if its honored here. As I know its a 3year warranty thats provided here in India (not sure, never bought one).

I think few of TE members have brought LCD monitors from outside. Maybe others can provide more input. But im sure ive read it here.

The things that have intl warranty are

1) Seagate Hard drives

2) Dell and Viewsonic Displays

3) Laptops

Don't think anything else has international warranty.

Chaos, Seagate has international warranty on their HDD's...are u sure m8?

Reason I ask is 500GB Seagates are available in US for $100 including shipping (Frys)

And also, when we check for warranty online, it makes us answer the Which country...so if I were to RMA a US bought Seagate they would put in India when checking their database and say that it doesnt have any warranty here, assuming that this was sold to me as "without bill" type HDD

Well, till now the best Service I have got, is on my MacBook from RSG Infotech (Official Apple Service Centre). Gave them my Laptop on Friday, had it in 1 Week, and got my Motherboard on it Replaced. No questions asked, now it works perfectly.

AFAIK, Apple offer Intl. Warranty on their Macbook/Macbook Pro Line.

the gigabyte service center its just few blocks away from my house
last time i chekd they just do the RMA process and when i asked for the warrenty of products they wanted a proper bill and all that stuff for verfication of some sort.

also 20 mins away is the amd (windsor) distribution center for bombay from my house its a office and a wearhouse/service center on the ground floor they replace the chips AFAIK provided its from an authorised dealer of amd.

On my last processor RMA experience, AMD replaced my 3000+ without asking for any purchase proof. I filed RMA online with the serial no, bluedart guy came home. picked up processor. and new box packed processor was delivered to me next week. No bill was ever asked.

Like Chaos said ViewSonic does provide an international warranty. Its handled by Priya in India.

However a number of laptops require you to purchase International warranty. Dell is one of them.

Philips is another company whose monitors come with a 1 yr International warranty.

Its tough enough to get local warranties invoked in India...

Everytime I tried getting my Asus thingies replaced a 1 month waiting period is min...It totally sucks...worst service of any brands I hv owned...Having said that I got the Asus A8JP lappy frm abroad...says it has intl warranty, but is nt listed in available models in India, wnder if it will be even considered if sm issue props up...

Btw Darknite, does the Viewsonic VX924 have intl warranty, can it be claimed here in India...I hv sold it off, just want to know...

Yes at the time of purchase I actually mailed their office in Singapore. Got a reply from the Taiwan office (I think) saying that I can contact Priya International over here in case any problems arise.

BTW the 2407 has a lot of lag does it not?? Its 16ms G to G. How come the switch?
