- When it comes to the frequency of updates, JDownloader is miles ahead of IDM as well as many of its competitors - thanks to its unique modular design. The "paid = better/faster" formula isn't a rule of thumb.
- It's not a Java applet or such, which means you don't need to install a full-fledged version of Java on your host OS to run JDownloader. The current installer ships with a minimal version of JRE bundled with the program, that's it.
