Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Refresh

This beta preview version of Internet Explorer 7 is intended for Web developers and other Web professionals. It is not intended to be a functional product for Web surfers. We had difficulty actually removing it and restoring to IE6.

Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 preview is intended to enable developers, web developers and IT pros to begin to test the new browser for compatibility with their applications and Web sites. Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 preview includes advancements in security and browsing experience for end users, functionality and compatibility for developers, and manageability for corporate network administrators.

In a brief demonstration of IE 7 Beta 2 at the inaugural Mix '06 conference, program manager Dean Hachamovitch showed the packed audience at the relatively small auditorium some of the latest build's newly working features, including an auto-detection feature for sites that utilize local search capacity. In a similar vein to sites that the RSS feeds that accompany their Web pages be auto-detected by the latest IE or Firefox, sites that have their own local search can add listings for themselves to IE7's new search bar. This way, a site that specializes in recipes or horticulture or, as Hachamovitch demonstrated, dog grooming, can make their search query lines accessible through IE7's built-in controls.

In addition to its continued inclusion of tabs - which, Firefox has made clear, is a "must have" function even among regular IE users - IE7 will enable tabs to be grouped and saved, like a collective bookmark. A tab grouping can then be used in place of the IE7 home page, so conceivably, a browser could load TG Daily, Tom's Hardware Guide, and MobilityGuru all at startup.

I'm having a problem actually uninstalling the existing version before installing this new one,..

Appearently CCleaner removed the uninstall files for that IE7.. so i can't uninstall it though,,

anyone came to a solution to this issue ?

you might wanna try this

Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."

Click "Add or Remove Programs."

Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.

Scroll down the list to "Windows XP - Software Updates," select "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview," and then click "Change/Remove."

If "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" does not exist, run %windir%\$NtUninstallie7b2pmx$\spuninst\spuninst.exe (where %windir% is your home Windows directory). You will need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

In the rare circumstances where you cannot find that directory and IE7 is not listed in the Control Panel, IE7 setup automatically creates a system restore point before making any changes. Use System Restore to restore your computer back to your original install point. This is not 100% effective so please back up important documents prior to using System Restore.

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7b2pmx$\ does not exist here, and i don't have a restore point also :(

can anyone zip that folder for me, and i can give a try uninstalling ??

I found a workaround to install the new version... you dont need to uninstall or nething... just a few registry changes.

As always, please backup your registry before making any changes / make a restore point.
In the registry remove the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ie7b2

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP0\ie7b2
Then, replace your iexplore file (C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\iexplore.exe) with the iexplore.exe from Internet Explorer 6. - you can pull that out of your setup cd if need be.

Now when you run the IE7 installer again, it should pass its "checks" to see
if you have IE7 already installed and let you install again.

It worked for me!! :):):)
