Internet Speed Glitch?

Hello,

I have an Data One 256Kbps home plan 500, when i connect to the internet and browse through sites, the KB sent is more higher than KB received or vice versa even if i dont browse anyhting , how is this possible when the internet is connected even i dont browse or click anything...

Is my browser Hijacked.... What settings should i change...

In this way i have lost some 300 mb ....

Possible!

Do you have firewall installed. If not download zonealarm.

It will tell you if any specific programs tries to connect to the internet.

This way you can give access to programs which you think is right to access the net. Check if there are any applications (spyware) doing some damage.

Yes i have an windows firewall and it is set to off. And i will download ZOnealaram and see if it stops sending more Kbs... There is no spyware and i have also cleaned using an SPyware cleaner....

Sometimes spyware cleaners themselves could be spywares.

Just make proper use of Zone alarm. It should suffice
 
1. Change your account password . default bsnl accounts gets hacked easily these days
2.Use Spybot and update . Scan your computer for any malware .Also consider using HijackThis and look for any 'suspicious' entries ... if you find anything that is unknown to you , google and find out .
3.Use A/V and scan basic system areas . after making sure your HOST file is unaffected , finally go to Tools(IE tweaks and lock host file)(in spybot) and enable two things :: SDHelper and TeaTimer ( in 'resident') . Also immunize your system.
4.Use a classy firewall ( I use ZA , alerts me which prog wants to access the net and blah blah ) .
5.if you want , consider using other anti-spyware tools and protect your computer

if you want a clean HOST file , you can download from Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File (I haven't used it)
