Inverter battery maintenance

My inverter battery has dried up a lot.
My question is, do lead acid inverter batteries ever require acid-refilling/top-up?
Or the only top up they require is distilled water?

How much does the distilled water cost?
Are these the same ones that you see them at petrol stations?

Yup they do, there is a chemical reaction, energy is being generated, some of it is heat and hence a bit of H20 escapes.

Don't do it yourself, get its gravity checked first of all. And then use pure distilled water from a chemist. Tell him its needed for a chemical composition.

+1 to that.Some batteries have a level indicator for each cell and despite the indicator if it has dried up then you have got to be totally ignorant,in that case its better to get a battery maintenance contract from your dealer,so that they will top it up on time.

Yep, my bad.

It came pre installed in the apartment, and I was under the impression that it's a maintenance free battery.

I think I will take it to a battery charging shop.

Next time onwards I will top it up with distilled water.
