VijaySales Confirms The Availability Of iPad 2 in India, Prices To Be Unveiled Soon!

After the endless rumors, Vijaysales has finally confirmed about the launch of iPad 2 in India today. They are claiming that the iPad 2 has been officially arrived in their stores but prices will not be unveiled online. Those who are desperate to know about the iPad 2 prices should visit the nearest VijaySale store in Mumbai. iPad 2 is lighter, thinner and faster than its predecessor. It includes dual cameras (rear and front) for Facetime and HD video recording at 720fps.

OnlyGizmos earlier confirmed about the availability of iPad 2 this weekend. However, their sources reported April 28 or 29 as the date for the official launch. It is quite suprising that Apple has released iPad 2 in India prior to any press release. Also, the official Apple Indian site has not been updated yet with any information which still keep us in doubt. Tim cook while talking about the success of the iPad 2 said that it would arrive in 22 more countries in coming weeks. Possibility, India could be one of them.

Fingers crossed. We are waiting for the morning newspaper to arrive with some terrific news at our doorsteps!

The link in the mail directed me to Apple's India website. Good news for all Apple fans (and that definitely doesn't include me). However, I am glad that Apple finally (got wary of competition and) released the iPad simultaneously in India

Priced for 16 GB Wifi is 29500, 34,500 for 32Gb, 39,500 for 64GB

Price for WiFi +3G 16GB is 36,900, 41900 for 32GB and 46900 for 64GB!!
 
The prices vary from Rs.56-59 per dollar for MRP.

I don't think that it is all that high because:

1. Most companies plan a MRP of like 50+-2 per dollar in India.

2. Apple can be expected to charge a 10-15%+ premium over the Rs.50 per dollar :P

3. Street prices should be like 85-95% of the MRP!

OK, a couple of things here. The 10-15% premium is understandable, but not on already 14% premium rate of 50 INR per USD. Right now the rate is 44.XX per USD.

Secondly, will street products be eligible for Apple's warranty claims? Do they honour such things in India? I was under the impression that these products need to be bought from authorised resellers only in the case of Apple
 
But all companies consider $=Rs.50 for India, while pricing their things. The 15% premium has to be over Rs.50 for Apple :)

I dont think so the prices are inflated.Its almost same as New Zealand/Australia/UK.Apple product prices are same only in USA ,HK and not in all countries.
 
Even though i am posting it late but just got a mail from APPLE INDIA that its coming on 29th April . Planning to get a 32GB for wife . I would say prices are fair when compared to what others are offering .
