My Friend dropped his iPad mini 6 from sofa recently, although there is no aesthetic damage, the fingerprint sensor stopped working.
Now he did take it to Apple support locally,he was told it would be sent to mumbai, he bought it back immediately with the fear that he might be charged for any repairs, despite the ipad being in warranty.
Please do share similar experiences & help decide the next step.
Any helpful suggestions are welcome.

Most likely there won’t be any warranty charge. I’ve had a broken hinge repaired under warranty , in comparison, this wouldn’t even be noticeable.
Either way, they won’t repair it on a charged basis unless your friend agrees and approves.

Having said that, please take it to another service center this time if possible to hedge against the risk of running into the same service agent again :)

If it's under warranty and there is no sign of damage they will replace it for free, Just ask him to check it thoroughly that there are no damages dents or cracks.
